im a new hockey player n i really like the look of them. specifically the 4's thats not a spelling error lol but any help would b much appreciated
woops i made a small mistake i need them in a 9 not 10, or maybe an 8. im not sure my foot is like a 9 1/2

go to hockeygiant.com. they got good shit for cheap and check out the sizing chart because i wear an 11 1/2 shoe but my skates are a 9 1/2. every company is different too.

The boot of Hockey skates generally run 1.5 sizes smaller than your shoe size. Some also make wider boots then others. I recommend going to a local shop and trying them on. With the heal firmly in the heal cup your big to should just be tickling the end of the toe cap.
If the length is good and the sides are a little tight. The shop should be able to fix that with a combination of the skate bake and stretching out the parts that need to be.

I not a great skater, but i can skate circles around other people.
i was curious about getting my own pair of ice skates but i live in texas so there's no where in town to go try them on.

From what i'm been told they run about a size smaller than what your shoe size is so if i wear a 9 in mens i need an 8 in mens?
i'm also not looking to spend a fortune on them, is there any website that has good skates for a good price or clearanced online?

what are the ok brands, i dont have a clue what to look for?

Skating circles without hockey pads is one thing, playing hockey is another thing altogether. There are plenty of hockey shops throughout the Lone Star State - what area are you in? Generally speaking yes it's one size less than your shoe size but it's best to get fit in person to be on the safe side. www.hockeymonkey.com is one of the better U.S. online sites and they have a lot of skates on clearance / sale, ditto www.peranis.com .. I personally prefer CCM, but Bauer and Mission are also pretty good. Think of your skates as a cowboy would their boots. You want something with a comfortable fit because you're gonna be spending a lot of time in them. I'm not saying everyone needs snakeskin Tony Lama boots or $500 skates, but there's a difference between those and Dingo boots or $50 skates. If price is an issue you might find something on www.ebay.com but I prefer www.craigslist.org (from there go to your local site and put in hockey within for sale / wanted) maybe someone in your area has a pair they're not using?
