I purchased an ice hockey stick for use on pavement. The blade is composite-covered wood. The parking lot is sanding the blade tremendously; is there anything I can do, or should I wait 'til it dies and then buy a street hockey plastic one?
Thanks.
It's probably damaged beyond repair at this point, so you might as well use it until it breaks or wears down to a toothpick.
Next time look for an ABS blade; the street hockey plastic ones like Mylec and Inglas i only use on gym floors where they're the only ones allowed.
Tyson from Inline/Ice Warehouse shows you what to look for in selecting the right blade for your hockey stick.
Im a very fast skater in hockey, one of the fastest on my teams. i sharpen my skates once a week and i keep blade covers on them and i also dry them off after every game. for some reason, whenever i do tight turns, every so often i just seem to lose my edge and fall. why is this happenening? do ineed new blades, are they too small?
You should not have to sharpen your skates once a week. I would talk to the people sharpening your skates and make sure it is being done correctly. Maybe have your coach take a look at the skate blade and see if anything is noticeable.

hi i play hockey with a graphite stick and i tape the blade with black hockey tape. it always wears off after 1 game and then the blade isnt covered with tape. i heard that there are some ways to keep the tape stay on longer. can you please tell me what those ways are?
try a better/different kind of tape.
I have hockey skates that I haven't used for about 2 years. I want to start going ice skating again, but noticed that there's just a little bit of rust, a very thin layer on the lower part of the side of the blades. It doesn't even cover all the blade, just a little bit.
Can I get these skates sharpened? Will that take care of the little bit of rust?
Get them sharpened, it will take care of the rust.
I had some rust on my skates, had them sharpened, and the rust is gone. Just be sure to dry the blade completely when you are done skating, this prevents rust.
I play street hockey with my friends almost everyday however it is not on ice and it is on litarally the street. I started out with a plastic blade stick (i think there called ABS) but it was ssssooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo short and defense was a nightmare. Then I bought a twenty dollar wooden rebok stick which also has a wooden blade which i put tape over. I like the stick that is wooden and i want to know if it is alright if i use a woodn stick on the street. Also if i do then do i have to cover it with tape because i am just starting out and i think that the plain wood would hit harder then the covered wood, however i have no problem with tape ontop.
I played in a tournament one time and the Pro Shop had a clearance for Easton Synergy sticks.. I bought 2 they were 10 bucks so why wouldn't I! I thought ok, I can use it when i do dryland training and such.... I'm still on the first one after 2 years! I say it's completely worth spending the extra money for a composite stick.. look up all the hockey websites you can find... you'll be amazed at the number of close outs they have and how little you have to spend
