Buying new hockey skates Bauer X60 or CCM U+?

I am buying brand new hockey skates soon but i need to know whether to get the Bauer X60 or CCM U+ and why i should get one of them? Thanks for the help

Get CCM. I have had multiple skates from both brands and I can say CCM is superior to all other brands in comfort, although I do NOT have any complaints about performance either. I did not even have to get my last CCM pair baked, no I am not kidding. Bauer skates are famous for giving you something called a "Bauer Bump" despite being baked. It is pretty much a heel spur, or callus. Not fun.

Just take my advice, I would not lie. I only had one spot in my new CCM's that bothered me, so I taped a piece of foam over it. I can skate for hours, and my feet will feel fine in newer skates that have never been baked!

Just a side note - I have had horrendous experiences with Easton skates. Reebok's are pretty good, my cousin just got a pair and he has used them a few times. Comfort wise he says they are good, even though they agitated his healing "bauer bump". I would try to stay away from all brands except CCM, and Reebok.

Buying Hockey Skates?

Hey all..
I am almost done with my pair of skates and its time for a new pair.
I have looked very hard into buying new skates.. and I've needed some opinions on whats the best skate.
Note that theres no budget, and im looking for a skates that allow wide feet.
I have interest into Grafs, RBK, Easton, and Nike Bauer
But i need an quote on whats the best skate
Thanks

I like Easton a lot, but I have narrow feet. My brother has very wide feet and so does my dad. They both wear CCMs or RBKs. They're known for wideness. I've tried CCM and they work very nicely.

Help with buying ice hockey skates?

I'm currently in search of a pare of hockey skates and I'm looking to see: what is the difference from the Supreme 30 to the Supreme 50.?
I'm actually leaning toward buying CCM Vector V8.0 for $230.00....is this a good skate?

Never heard of either model; with Bauer/Nike, typically, their lower-end models will have lower numbers. The Supreme is an older model, a namesake from the Bauer days.

Their One 90/One 95 models are their current "pro" models.

The lower-end models will, typically, be heavier than your high-end skates, have cheaper materials, and may not be as supportive, and will most likely have material that breaks down quicker. Other differences could include liners, lace bite protection, and weight of the rocker.

Without knowing what you're using the skate for (are you just planning on going to open skates/free skates without wanting to use rentals, or are you playing league hockey), it would be hard to say either model is ideal.

My usual suggestion is this- you need to try both on, and go by which one feels better on your foot. Ask anyone who plays- if your skates are uncomfortable and not supportive, you will be miserable. If you're thinking about your feet, you won't be able to play at your best. If you're playing no-check hockey you may not necessarily need the top-end shoulder pads/elbow pads, but spend money on good skates.

Techniques for Picking The Perfect Hockey Skates

Techniques for Picking The Perfect Hockey Skates

Posted on January 8, 2011 by Andri D.

It’s important to not only buy hockey skates that fit your foot but that are also well made and durable. You want to make sure you’ve found the perfect pair of skates that will enable you not only to expand your skills on the ice but also to grow your skills as a player on all levels. Remember these tips and you should have no trouble finding the perfect pair of skates for your hockey needs. When your experience on the ice takes off, so will your needs in hockey skates.

Getting hockey skates that fit perfectly can be difficult. One of the most effective methods for improving the fit of your skates is a process called skate baking. This is basically baking your skates like a cake and then putting them on until they are cooled off. This makes the skates soft and causes them to be molded to the size and shape of your feet as they cool. If you don’t know what you are doing it’s not a great idea to attempt this at home since it’s easy to ruin a good pair of skates or injure yourself. The pro shops have specialized ovens for doing this so it’s preferable to let them do it instead. This will give you the feel of a custom made skate.
