Youth Hockey

My son is 4 and has already done "learn to skate" and we want to enroll him in youth hockey. Is he too young?

I started when I was 4. Start early and he'll have a blast. If he enjoys it a lot, keep him in the same position through the years and he may become an NHLer. Good Luck, hockey's a great sport.

Griffin Youth Hockey's Mite B Travel team at Providence Bruins on Jan 11th against Martha's Vineyard Mite team

We have (2) kids that play hockey in Minnesota, but we are possibly moving to Seattle. One girl, U10 and One boy, first year Bantam.
We would like to find a suburb that would be close by to an arena that offers a good youth hockey association.

There are very few ice arenas in the Seattle area
Two far out in the suburbs: Everett and Bremerton
And two arenas closer in: Kent Valley Ice center (6015 S 240th St, Kent, WA 98032) and Castle ice in Renton (12620 164th Ave Se, Renton, WA 98059)

I would suggest the near south suburbs of Renton, Maple Valley or Kent. They are nice places to live, good schools and "relatively" affordable (for Seattle standards - homes are only 500K)

I need the proper way to size a youth hockey skate and what to look for to achieve an appropriate fit.

I would definitely recommend going to your hockey shop and having them sized properly. There is nothing worse than trying to skate in skates that do not fit. Get them sized to their foot. Do not buy larger skates thinking that they will grow into them. Hockey is expensive, and you will have to be buying skates as the feet grow. However, your child will not grow to love the game if they can't skate because they are wearing the wrong size.
