Wheelchair limitations in Finland??

Hi, I might visit Finland in my near future, like go to see what their sledge hockey team is like and if I would like to play for them in college and stuff. I was wondering........would a guy in a wheelchair have alot of trouble getting around places(I am very independent.....like very independent...very strong upper arms and could do almost anything ecept go up large amount of stairs....and no I can't stand at all..)........like for example Helinsinki becuase I know they have wheelchair people from their wheelchair hockey but I don't know if they care for disabled as mush as the US does.

What is your opionin??

(Sorry for any errors)

Well, the situation varies a lot from city to another, but basically many buildings do have elevators or at least stairlifts available for wheelchair-bound people. The problem mainly occurs on old buildings where the elevators are small or only stairs are used there. Also, some trams, buses or trains might have it difficult to transfer people in wheelchairs, but in general it should not be a big problem. The best suggestion is to make sure in advance that your wheelchair fits in, or use a taxi with a wheelchair lift instead. In short, there may be some obstacles here and there, but, it is possible to avoid them if everything is well planned in advance. Welcome to Finland!

Can you answer these hockey question for all.....?

1.Would you get a 5 inch by 5 inch Atlanta Thrashers tattoo to obtain free beer and NHL tickets for the next 10 years?

2.For the past decade we were bombarded with Forsberg news and it became somewhat annoying. Anybody miss it?

3.Why is a beard still just called a beard regardless if a mustache is attached or not?

4.I am sure you have seen wheelchair Basketball…..why is there no wheelchair Hockey?

5.You are a grand prize winner! You get one free ticket to any game. Here is the cool part: Your ticket is to a seat that does not yet exist. They will put a new seat ANYWHERE in the arena….just for you! Where do you want this seat placed? Don’t say “on the ice”…..because that is simply stupid.

6.Why is it you never see Linesmen or referees with crazy beards?

7.If they had tootsie (feet) warmers blowing hot air on players skates when they were on the bench, do you think that might help player performance?

8.Has Ron MacLean ever tinkled in Don Cherry’s coffee?

1) I already have a Leafs tattoo on my shoulder...I suppose it depends on where I'd have to get it (go ahead and make your own "tramp stamp" joke).
2) Who? What? I suppose that's your answer. Don't miss it at all.
3) Because a beard without the upper lip cover...that's just weird. Crosby's is filling in nicely...I swear he looks like a 16-year old. All he needs is a TransAm or a Camaro.
4) There's sledhockey, which gets pretty brutal.
5) Right next to Pierre Mcguire, as close as possible (knowing he likes that sort of thing).
6) Their barbershop quartet has a rule forbidding them. I do think they need to start growing handlebar moustaches. Ian White's porn stache would surely approve.
7) Wayne Gretzky has already endorsed a thermoblade, which keeps the skate blade heated above freezing (40-45F) which is supposed to make guys faster.
8) No tinkle, but he did a farmer blow (press on one nostril, blow out the other) in 2003 after their spat about the Iraq war.

What adaptations would a teacher make for a PE lesson if a child is a wheelchair user?

Lessons include games (e.g. football, hockey), dance and gym.

None, just help them to be involved the best way they can, don't treat them differently than anyone else. Although it's hard for them to play football, maybe make them a running back, kids can help them be involved in other sports, like have a pinch hitter for them in kickball.

do they specialize field hockey?

do they specialize field hockey? i'm 24 i cannot be on a regular field hockey basketball or soccer team because i have a hip problem. i read they specialize ice hockey which is sled hockey. there are some regular sports i can do and some i cant do. it wouldn't make sense to do a wheelchair sport since i am not in a wheelchair. is there any other hockey besides sled hockey that doesnt have as much running as field hockey?

i got a lower back problem too, i can't play any soccer teams or do crazy things in tae kwon do, so there's a few sports that doesn't contain any running at all, wheelchair basketball, billiards, ping pong, bowling, playing cards and so on...

"I usually get Pavel (Datsyuk) and Zets (Zetterberg) to carry me and my wheelchair up the 4 flights of stairs from the parking lot, but they are getting old as well, so it's getting harder and harder to make it to the dressing room" Said 40 year old defenceman Nikolas Lidstrom, who actually missed the first day of training camp because he was stuck between the 2nd and 3rd flight of stairs. But its not only the older players that are complaining about the issue, younger players such as Justin Abdelkader and Patrick Eaves told media that they are also having issues with the stairs. "After spending a summer in coach Babcock's punishment camp, my legs are still too stiff to climb the stairs. He made...
