Why do Upper Deck hockey cards have number codes on the back of them?

In the past, Upper Deck used them for their Kids Rewards program. Also, UD tends to use them for their collect and win programs where they encourage collectors to put together complete sets.

A Mario Lemieux NHL Authenticated Memorabilia Upper deck hockey puck sell for? There is a picture of Mario Lemieux with his jersey from pittsburgh. (On back says Official LIcensed Product...NHL 1996 and NHLPA 1996?!?!?! So how much is this hockey puck worth?

Yeah, sorry it wouldn't be worth much, unless it was signed
theres probably a ton of those pucks lying around

What type of upper deck is best? And which pack has rookie debut? Also is "The Cup"'rookies are UD what type/series do they come in

What type are the best? That's really a term only relative to your and your collection. The most expensive, well that will be The Cup.

Which pack has rookie debut? If you mean the actual insert set "Rookie Debut", that would be Upper Deck Series 2 Hockey. If you mean what are the first rookies, it depends on when the player first plays a game. Upper Deck cannot release a rookie card until the player has actually played their first game in the NHL.

The Cup rookies come in the product "The Cup." It's normally the last release of the season, and the most expensive. 2009-10 Upper Deck The Cup is going to be released this Friday. 2010-11 The Cup won't be released until the season is over most likely, sometime in the spring of 2011.

Look for at least 4 Rookie Cards per box on average!!

where do I go to find the complete checklist?

From my experience with sports cards, you are going to need to be more specific about your cards. You are going to need to know what year they were printed and if they are part of a special set, for example, Upper Deck Spectrum instead of the regular Upper Deck.

The year of the set can be found by looking at the last marked year on the card, the year of the set will be either the year printed, or the year after.

The set can be found by searching the front of the card and by looking at the UD symbol in the corner of the card for any extra words other than "Upper Deck" and the player and team name. The extra word/s, if any, are most likely the name of the set. If nothing is found assume that it is the basic UD set.

Once you find out this information, the site below has a list of all Upper Deck hockey card sets, even the special sets, with a link to each of their checklists.

Do you know how many cards make a complete set and where I can find a complete checklist?

I've collected for years now. Each year and sets are different but you can go on Upperdeck.com to see a card list of most sets. Also the annual large addition of Beckett will list most of the cards as well.
