Union Hockey

Starting from when they were rebuilding after the losses in 1960 - 1980. I know they played a lot of games inbetween and played in a lot of tournaments. It would have to be one of the longest winning streaks in the history of sports.

After losing in 1960 the USSR lost to Canada at the 1961 World Championships and they skipped 1962. From 1963 till 1972, they lost to Czechoslovakia at the WC's in April, the Soviets went on a decade long run winning 9 straight events 3 Olympics and 6 World Championships.

Olympic Ice Hockey tournament goes- 1964 7-0 in 1968 they went 6-1 , 1972 4-0-1, 1976 5-0-0. Then in 1984 8-0 and outscored Canada, Swede and Czechoslovakia 16-1 in the medal round Lastly 1988 7-1 they lost to Finland in a meaningless medal round game as they allready won the gold.

Some other facts- In 1969 World Championships USSR lost twice to Czechoslovakia, First time since 1961 they lost 2 games in one championship.

April 8th 1976 Poland beat the Soviet Union 6-4 at the World Championships this was a team that only lost 1 competitive game since 1972. The loss unbalanced the team and resulted in a 2nd place finish and Czechs won the gold.

September 13,1984 Canada Cup Mike Bossy ended the Soviet's 4 year unbeaten streak after losing in 1980 they didnt' lose a single game. They had three perfect records at the World Championships 1981,82,83 as well as the 1984 Olympics not to mention winning 1981 Canada Cup demoloshing Canada 8-1.

Febuary 15,1968 Winter Olympics Czechoslovakia snaps Soviets 6 year winning streak .Dating back to March 8,1963 they won 37 games.
