Street Hockey

is there any street hockey leagues in markham, ontario?

Hmmm, try a google search or call the City. I live in Brantford about 1 1/2 hours from you and we have a huge ball hockey league here. It's fairly new with about 10 mens teams and a whole wack of kids teams. It's played on an outdoor rink with the same markings as a hockey rink but some of the rules are modified because the rink is a little smaller than a regulation rink. They also go year round and is only like $125 per session.

I purchased an ice hockey stick for use on pavement. The blade is composite-covered wood. The parking lot is sanding the blade tremendously; is there anything I can do, or should I wait 'til it dies and then buy a street hockey plastic one?

It's probably damaged beyond repair at this point, so you might as well use it until it breaks or wears down to a toothpick.
Next time look for an ABS blade; the street hockey plastic ones like Mylec and Inglas i only use on gym floors where they're the only ones allowed.

I am planning to play street hockey (on CEMENT) and wanting to buy a decent stick at a good price.
My question is what kind of a stick is the most DURABLE and LONG LASTING for playing on cement?
Is a wooden stick better or an aluminum stick...please tell me why , thanks :)

Wooden sticks are used for street not aluminum. Most street leagues actually prohibit aluminum sticks, so your best bet is a wooden stick and preferably a koho if you're just starting out. My first stick was a koho ultimate and it was amazing.

My boys are 13 and have been playing hockey about two weeks. Nothing serious. Pick up games in the street. One is on his second stick and the others brand new skates are falling apart. I just want to get the right equipment at the right price

mission roller skates are always a steal, and forr the stick if its nothing serious look for just a plain wooden stick they are the cheapest

I don't want to spend too much, but i want a stick that will last for street hockey. I would like to know what kind, brand, etc.

honestly, nothing really lasts very long if youre using it for street hockey. look for something with a fiberglass blade, those hold up pretty well. i usually just buy a cheap $15-20 wood stick every year. i play street hockey almost everyday in the spring/summer so i wear them down pretty quickly.
