He wasnt even the best player on that team, he never did anything amazing, he choked against the worst teams, there was so many other better canidates. Other than ESPN overhyping his average stats after game, I don't see how he was voted in.
Troy Smith- If your reading this i don't mean to offend you in any way, have fun being a career backup.
I'm not a SUCKEYE fan (Go Michigan!!) but I have to admit that Troy had a decent season.
His achilles heel was the championship game.
But, a Heismen Trophy winner in college doesn't guarantee that you'll be an NFL superstar.
Smith's height will keep him from excelling at the pro level.
Talk about hype? Brady Quinn got and is STILL getting alot of hype. Talk about overrated.

His first name is Kip. What league and team does he play for?
Kip Brennan- plays for Hershey Bears.
i heard its something like 13??
Sounds about right. Jason Smith probably has a few more than that. The Hunter boys probably had more. Any fighter has probably had more for that matter.......Bob Probert's total would be interesting to see. A broken nose isn't that big of a deal though.
This is an incredible deal and you should take it immediately!!!
Let's compare
Scott Hartnell (Age 27) (LW)
Last season, he registered 30 goals and 30 assists for 60 total points. On top of that, he ended the season with a Plus 14 rating as well as HUGE 143 penalty minutes. The only place he is lacking is on the power play as he only racked up 6 PP point last season.
Ryan Smyth (Age 33) (LW)
Last season, Smyth tallied 26 goals and 33 assists for a total of 59 points. Unfortunately, his +/- rating was a -14 (a consequence of playing on the worst team in the west). Ryan Smyth tends to steer clear of the penalty box as he only had 62 penalty minutes last season. His power play is not much greater than that of Hartnell as he only had 10 PPP.
To sum up, I think you should definitely go with Hartnell. The two players score about on even amount (even on the powerplay), but Hartnell gets WAY more penalty minutes which will help you win that category and get extra points. Also, take a look at who these guys are playing with this season. Ryan Smyth will be on line 3 with Micheal Handzus and Teddy Purcell while Scott Hartnell will be paired with Jeff Carter and Ian Laperriere. I don't think I need to say it, but Jeff Carter scored over 40 goals last season, so it will definitely be beneficial for Hartnell to be playing beside him.
Definitely make the trade... You have my approval!
who would you rather pick-up. I mean Gerber can flop, and Mike Smith can end up being huge this year. He showed good signs of that against NYR.
Mike Smith
Martin Gerber i admit is a great goalie don't get me wrong. However Martin Gerber is not consistent. He will have a good streak and then he will fall. He is not emotionaly or physically in game to be a pick for your fantacy league.

Minor Hockey Week award winner is in great company - Edmonton ...
Curtis Smith shares an awful lot in common with Wayne Gretzky, though it's not apparent at first.
Even his coach will tell you the North Edmonton Red Wings forward plays more like future Edmonton Oilers stars than past.
"He's kind of a cross between a Jordan Eberle and a Taylor Hall," Wally Corse says. "He's got very good moves, but he's very strong on the puck and very hard to move off the puck."
Last week during the kick-off to 2011 Edmonton Minor Hockey Week, Smith was one of three recipients of the prestigious Wayne Gretzky Award, joining fellow winners Nicolas Beland (KC Bantam) and Andrew Stewart (SEERA Midget) in forever having their names linked to The Great One.
