Just curious, lots of comments about hockey fans hating Ottawa Sens .... why, is it the players, the location?

I like all the teams except the Kings and the Ducks and maybe the Sharks but the Sens are my favourite. I think their is some good talent there and the guys do alot for Charity and Children. Most of them are reasonably humble and quite young - except Alfy and Gerber. Can't figure out why so many comments are made about hating Ottawa?????

Individually, I like a lot of the guys that play for Ottawa. Alfie, Spezza, Heatley, and Emery are all great guys and great players. But there were a few things that turned me off to the Sens...

1. Bryan Murray needs to shut up. He's always having a fit about something. He's got to be the most obnoxious guy in the NHL, except for maybe Sean Avery. Every coach whines to some extent, but he's carried it to a whole new level with his griping about Sidney Crosby saying the f-word and faceoffs starting a few milliseconds too late.

2. The whole craziness surrounding Chris Neil's hit on Chris Drury. I think Neil's hit was legal, so I don't have a problem with that. But I do have a problem with the entire organization (Murray, president Roy Mlakar, etc.) doing everything they possibly could to make the Sabres look like big bad bullies afterwards. Roy Mlakar said that the Sabres had no class because they put out their tough guys after the hit on Drury. He admitted that avenging a hit like that is part of the hockey "code", but he thought it was classless. Then he turned right around and said that Andrew Peters was terrible because the "code" says that you should never fight a goalie (even though he admitted that Emery was the team's best fighter). So basically the code is good when it helps the Sens and bad when it doesn't. He just twisted the whole thing around to make the Sens look like innocent little angels and good hockey people, when they actually acted like complete cowards and crybabies through the whole situation.

3. I come in contact with a lot of other hockey fans here on Yahoo! Answers, and Sens fans just seem to be a lot more annoying than fans of other teams. It seems like, whenever there's someone yelling and cussing and having a fit over something stupid, it's always a Sens fan. I'm sure you're not all like that (you seem like a reasonable person), but there are a lot of you who are, and it gets annoying after a while.

4. I'm a Penguins fan. I had already decided that I didn't like the Senators after the Neil-Drury thing, but facing them in the playoffs certainly didn't make my feelings towards them any more warm and fuzzy.

So yeah, that's basically it. But I will end my answer with one positive thing about your team: You guys treated Dany Heatley right. Atlanta fans could not have been any more classless, cowardly, and just downright cold-hearted and mean to him. It was absolutely disgraceful.

Most hockey "experts" say that the Sens won't get past the first round. Is there anyone who thinks otherwise ?

No, the sens suck and deserve to lose for lack of teamwork. Everyone's just gonna try and be the hero and they're gonna lose in 5. (I'll give 'em one game.)

Why is the Ottawa Senators hockey club not pulling up their GOOD PLAYERS from the AHL? aka Binghamton Sens?

I've seen those players play, and a few of them do not belong in the AHL, but the NHL. I think its all politics, what do you think?
First! I'm a Canadian! I support one of my
best friends and his friends. go to
www.sergepayerfoundation.org and you'll see an awesome player :) Not only is he a personal friend but a true role model on and off the ice/When you watch someone play well for another team and any player...and not given an opportunity to play more its disgusting and a slap in the face to their talent. A team has to blend so, Sens!!! Change it up!!! Bring up some of your guys and let them BLEND with some of your current guys and we'll see you in the Stanley Cup!!! it doesn't matter where you are located SUPPORT your local/favourite team. These players have had their game changed aka the shoot out instead of extra OT and that too just ticks me off!
Why is the Coaching Organization KEEP sending back players in their roster that could really make a difference? Yes, some of their top players are great, but they need to switch up the ones that are lagging and not doing their job.

To the players of the Binghamton Sens...I'm rooting for you, but it seems like no matter how we the fans try and promote you, the organization doesn't see with their eyes your true talents. God bless all of you!!

Muckler should learn fron the sabres. We have so much depth in rochester that when any player goes down they can be replaced. Why bring in Gerber when you can give the work load to Emery and bring a kid up from the minors to back up Emery and get him some experiance.

The Senators are not that bad.

    They really aren’t.

Looking at that roster, they’ve got some good pieces.

The No. 1 thing they have to do is go out and get a No. 1 goaltender.

I was the guy who felt that Pascal Leclaire was the best goalie they’ve had and I still say that. It’s not my fault he’s been injured. He can play.

How well has he done in the games he’s played? Ninety percent of the games he played, the kid was good.

Luckily, his deal will be over and they’ve got that luxury to go out to sign a No. 1 goaltender.
