Which team sport is tougher Football (NFL) or Hockey? I say Football pure strength used 95% of the time.?

Football players don't land on ice , don't get hit into boards, don't get punched in the face, don't get hit with sticks, pucks. Need I say more.

A little video that shows exactly why hockey is the greatest sport known to mankind.

Hockey Skate Tongue Rip?
DSC_8697

My skate tongue came off after I got my skate blade fixed at Pure Hockey. I went back to try and get my tongue put back on but they said they could not do it. Anybody know where one can get it fix or how to fix it at home?

You don't really need the tongue it's just there for comfort and protection. You could just lay it on over the top of your foot and secure it by tying your skates. Other than that sew or buy a new pair.

USA- the best in hockey...for now?
DSC_8682

OK, so now I got your attention.

Great game last night by BOTH teams. Although I know Canadians want to rip USA as being the inferior victor, I wanted to comment and ask about a bigger picture...

Last night's game was filled with such passion, and the play was so inspired and heart-felt by BOTH teams. Too often, once these kids turn pro their attitudes change. I, for one, see it as the truest embodiment of the game- love of the game, as some would say. You could see it on the faces of the Canadian players last night.

Wasn't it refreshing to see attitudes and egos put aside for pure hockey and pride?
Are any of you expecting to see the same (or far less) effort in the Olympics?

What a great game to watch. I was pleasantly surprised by the intensity and excitement in hockey of this level (this was my first time watching the WJC). Seeing the Canadian home crowd here, I can't even imagine how it will be in Vancouver. Despite the rumblings about here and there about sportsmanship and the like by fans, I think that there was a nice display of class and sportsmanship by both sides. You bring up a very interesting point about effort. I expect to see the same kind of effort, if not more, by players in the highest level of international competition that is the Olympics.

Who is your favorite NHL hockey goalie of all time?
DSC_8699

My personal "golden age" of hockey was the mid to late 90's. The "Legion of Doom", Scotty Bowmen's Redwings, The Avalanche and Wing's rivalry.
For sheer dirtiness my favorite would have to be Ron Hextall. For pure style, Felix "The Cat" Potvin.
Thoughts? Cheers

Does anyone get more excited about hockey than Mike Emerick?
DSC_8701

He sounds like he's having a brain aneurysm over the most basic plays. I fear for this man's health. And I love his variety of calls, from "Score!" to "He scores!" and my personal fav. "Scoooooore!" Pure genius.

If you had to broadcast Devils games all year long................you too would get over the top hysterical for REAL hockey!

Mike Emrick is in the Hockey Hall of Fame for a reason, and we heard it today. An excllently called game by Emrick. The Former hawks with him though................have got to go!

  • **REVISED** FTP Weekly: BC, UNH, NU finish four-point weekends ...

Boston College, New Hampshire, and Northeastern opened 2011 with a pair of wins in conference, while Merrimack and Boston University each posted a single win in their lone games of the weekend gone by. A pair of weekend series will take place Friday and Saturday in Massachusetts, while a couple teams play against local non-conference rivals on Saturday.

Northeastern, the Hockey East Team of the Week, posted their first winning streak of the season as they defeated Massachusetts in Amherst, 5-3, on Friday, before a 3-1 win over UMASS-Lowell on Saturday at Matthews Arena. Brodie Reid, Wade MacLeod, and Steve Qualier scored three goals in 0:38 against the Minutemen during the second period on Friday night. It was believed to be the second-fastest onslaught in Hockey East history, second only to ULowell’s three tallies in 0:24 on Jan. 26, 1985. Freshman Clay Witt earned his first win of the season, a 23-save effort on Saturday, while Tyler McNeely registered a goal and an assist. It was NU’s first back-to-back wins since Feb. 12-13, 2010. The Huskies host Vermont for a pair of games this weekend.
