Which playoff series has been the best ever?
i think it was game 5 of the 07 Rangers v Sabres Drury scored with 7.7 seconds left to tie it and then Max scored the winner in OT that was memorable Also one i hate to remeber but i was still great was the Dallas Buffalo series i stayed up til the end of that last game and i was like 12 or 13 years old
Hockey Night In Canada's Montage to close out the 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs Thanks for another great season! Congratulations to the 2011 ...
They're having a hockey pool at work for the playoffs and you have to pick 25 players. I want to join, but I don't really know how it works? How do you get points/win? How do you pick your players?
It's not easy but here we go......
Well, first of all you pick the players whom you think will score the most goals and assists in the playoffs. But in picking, you have to be careful NOT to pick any or more than two players from a team that finishes 7th or 8th in each of the 2 conferences because, when their team gets knocked out in the playoffs, you lose those players and your points then suffer as you have two less players and so on.
In order to find out who you should pick, you can go to
www.nhl.com and click on statistics for the scoring leaders on the teams and can pick from there.
16 teams make the playoffs and there are 8 playoff series, 2 teams in each. So, the first teams to NOT take any players from are the ones you think WILL NOT ADVANCE past the first round of the playoffs....as they would pretty well be "wasted picks." Best rule of thumb would be to pick
4 players from each of the TOP 4 teams which equals 16 players and then pick the remaining 9 from the next best teams in the standings.
After reading all of this, you may say "The hell with it" and go out and buy some beer!!!
I'm an English teacher in Japan and one of my students wants to know how much people usually pay to go to a playoff game for the NBA or the Stanley Cup hockey playoffs. Excuse my total ignorance of sports. I know NOTHING. I know that the playoffs are usually in June and tickets aren't on sale yet so I can't reserach prices, but generally, what do people pay?
I understand that tickets are sold for more than face value and it would be nice to know what face value is and what people actually pay.
You can answer for either the Stanley Cup or the NBA or both. I'm not talking about the divisional/regional playoffs taking place right now but the big championship game.
Thanks!
I promise to read and vote for a best answer!

I know that the top eight from each conference are in the playoffs based on how many points they have, but what does "clinched" mean? Is it that they automatically win their division/conference? And then I know they play a best of seven series with another team from their conference, but how are those matchups determined? This is all stuff I've overheard from my brother watching hockey on TV, and I want to figure out how all this stuff works.
Like everybody else has said, "clinched" means that mathematically, even if they lose all of their games, they will still be in the playoffs. If a player has an "x" next to their name in the standings, it means they've clinched their division, and if they have a "y", it means they've clinched their conference.
After the regular season is done, they pick the top eight teams from each conference, and set the first and eighth seeded teams, second and seventh, third and sixth, and fourth and fifth seeded teams against eachother.
I just moved to the Bay area and am living in a hotel. The very basic cable that I have seems to have no hockey games.
If you don't mine paying about $20 for a membership www.officialtvsports.com is the place to go.
