need to get my life back in line?
DSC_0149

This is going to get a little bit long. But I would appreciate it if you would please take the time to help me out. I really truly would.

My names James. But call me Jamie. I'm 14 years old. I have been having lots of problems in my life lately, and I really really need some help here..

One problem is that my grades are dropping dramatically. I'm a hockey player and I want to play in college and it's important to me. I know that the first thing, even before experience levels, they look at is grades. Plus I have an idea of what I want to do after I go college (architect or engineer, go to Michigan Tech, Finlandia, or Northern Michigan) which can't happen unless I get good grades. Everything I used to be interested in is now boring, like I HATE going school when I used to love it. No interest at all. I have F's in all classes. I really want this to change. How do I become a better student? Even little advice is appreciated.

Matter number two, my social life is going down the tubes. I used to love hanging out with friends, like I would only have one or two days a week when I wasn't doing something with anyone. I've lost interest in that, too. And I've lost many friends over the past two or three years, and that kills me. Any advice on how to make new friends, keep friendships, and possibly fix the old ones?

Thirdly, and this might sound dumb to some people, but my religious life is terrible. I am Catholic and had my first communion, and haven't gone to church since then. But over the past few years I've looked at things differently. I've met some people who believe that if God wanted to have our ears pierced, He would have put holes in them. If He meant for our hair to be a certain color, he would have made it that, and that dying it is going against Him. And same thing goes with make-up and painting your nails and all that stuff, (yeah I know I'm a guy but the girls don't do these things!) It just made sense to me. It probably doesnt to some of you, but it does to me and many other people. I havent gone church, read the bible, or any of that stuff since I made my first communion. Can I change religions? How would I go about this? I want to get closer to God and I feel that if I did my life would be better, and I could learn about the Bible and those things. This is something I really want. (A 14 yr old boy who wants to learn about that? Yeah, it happens...)

My healthy eating habits have totally been removed from my life. I constantly feel the urge to eat crappy food alll day, and I purposely miss my parents healthy meals they feed me to eat the junk food. I sit down and try to force myself to eat healthy, but it never has worked out. Help?

Another thing, my attitude is horrible. From the minute I wake up to the minute I go to bed. Its all disrespect to my parents, teachers, pretty much anyone other than kids at my school. Mom and Dad both dont have jobs. They spend so much time taking care of me, making sure I am healthy and they just care SO much about me. I realize that I need to treat them way better and more respectfully, and I feel very bad that I act this way, but every time I try to be nice I shoot my mouth off without realizing it and next thing I know my mom is crying and my dad stops talking to me. I say things before I think about them. Please help. This is very important to me.

Lastly, my organization and motivation to do things and be sucessful in general has removed its self from my life too. My room is like a freakin abyss, with clothes, food, dishes, toys, and many other things carelessly scattered across the floor. At hockey practice, I skate like **** and try to get motivated but its just not happening. Dont even tell me I might not like the sport, cause my life is all about hockey. Just, this season, my positive attitude is gone, so that doesnt help motivate me at all, like it normally does. Speaking of mental state, I cant seem to find anything positive in anything i ever do any more. Ideas?

I really appreciate it if you actually took the time to read this, or atleast some of it. I want my life back to how it used to be. Just please, I need help. Thank you in advance for any answers given.

Religion advice: Well I'm a Christian and I think thats sort of crazy sort of Christianity. There are many types of Christians. There are wave your hands up in the air, sort of singing Christians. But also there are more down to earth sorts of people. You could change religions I'm sure if you really want, although I don't know how to do this. Well I know it sounds cheesy, but God is there for you. Why don't you start reading the bibles, start praying, maybe start going to church, or even a youth group.

This brings me onto my next bit of advice. Joining groups, like even youth groups, or even activities inside or outside of school, is a good way to meet people. Here you can get to know people better, and orgainse events outside of the groups, with a group of people or individually. In order to get to know people better, you need to put in the hours.

Food, well you are not going to successfully eat healthy if you are forcing to eat stuff that you don' like. Get yourself into a better eating habits, and eat healthy food that you actually like. For example in the mornings, for breakfast eat museli or cereal, that tastes good, with fresh fruit. Get yourself into a habit of having fresh fruit or ceral in the evenings.

Family advice: You are a teenager and you have ALOT of crap on your plate. I can tell you are a bit frustrated at life. You are reflecting your crappy behaviour onto your parents. I went through this. What you need to do is try and act nicer to them, and treat them with more respect. Pretend they are your boss, or a teacher. Think, would this hurt them if I say it? Avoid winding them up.

I like you had alot of crap, involving friends, low marks, and my relationship turning into an arguement every day, and it started to get abusive. Get your family thing sorted first. Family, is one bit that you need to get sorted. Family is a foundation. Friends may come and go but family is always there for you. You will probably spend alot of time at home as well, and it would be nice to have an nice happy envioronment
