will the la kings make the playoffs? i think they will be a top seed, like #7 or #8..........and will Kopitar make 100 points this year?
Yes, I do believe this is going to be a very shocking year for the Kings. Bottom of the barrel looks bad in the Western. Hell even Detroit looks depleted. Now that the Kings have Smyth and Williams (once he gets healthy) and Kopi on the same line, God knows the possibilites. Defense looks strong too with Doughty and Johnson finally playing on the same line. And Quick is one year greater. Kopi can certainly hit 100 points this season, as long as that first line stays healthy. Even though Brown, Frolov and Simmonds are very well capable of taking the honors of replacing Smyth or Williams.
The Los Angeles Kings, the only Pro Hockey Team in Los Angeles, have the current longest playoff drought out of all the NHL teams in California, they have not been to the playoffs since 2001, but currently, their current record right now is a lot better than they have been the past few years, they are 25 wins and 16 losses at the moment.
I know it will be a long time before they can become Stanley Cup contenders, but can they at least become playoff contenders soon?
They should make the playoffs. They have the best young core of players next to Chicago and they should be a stanley cup contender in the next 2-3 years
I'm a die hard Kings fan from LA, but there are many hockey fans from LA that cheer for other teams, like Detroit, Pittsburgh, New York Rangers, etc.
This question is for fans outside of the Los Angeles hockey market. Are there many (or any) Kings fans in cities outside of Los Angeles, or are Kings fans something only found in LA?
There are Kings fans outside of LA, probably not a huge number. A lot of tranplants from other hockey cities live in LA so that's why they get fans cheering for the other team. Plus LA is a baseball and basketball city, not hockey.

Gann Matsuda On The Hockey Writers: Los Angeles Kings Need A Major ...
LOS ANGELES — Although the Los Angeles Kings are just one game beyond the halfway point in their season and a lot of hockey is left to be played, they are in deep, deep trouble.
Despite a strong start to their season and a 9-3-0 run in December, the Kings have had a stretch in November when they lost seven out of eight games, and they are currently mired in a slump in which they have lost six of their last seven, with no end to their nose dive in sight.
Their November slide was caused, in part, due to injuries to defenseman Willie Mitchell and left wing Alexei Ponikarovsky , but it was caused mostly by glaring defensive lapses.
The Kings’ current slump is of much greater concern because the problems run much deeper, as they have been guilty of shoddy efforts and a serious lack of attention to detail, with some players seemingly not dedicated to playing the Kings’ system and team game…
