What are some inequalities in ice hockey? ex. - social class, gender, race, etc.
What class gets the most or least from the sport?
Are any positions in the game regulated by class considerations?
Is the audience participation oriented by any race, income, class, or gender consideration?
How about the managers, head coaches, and owners of the teams...is there any inequality present?
What does it cost to participate?
What does it pay on all levels of the sport?
Some other inequalities may include race, gender, age, income, education, class structure.
As in any sport, the equipment is expensive, but most schools have groups that will assist or help raise money for the players.
Even the community will kick in.
Most hockey players I know in Canada, started in their own back yards, then moved on to skating ponds, then skating rinks.
Since it was primarily a cold weather sport, most everyone has played hockey,............. even all us girls.
As far as aggression, I think football, boxing and basketball
are pretty aggressive. We like to think of it as being focused and "dedicated".
Don't give me credit for this masterpiece, but here it is....An amazing collection of Ice Hockey Hits, goals and saves from the world's ...
I have been playing roller hockey for about 9 years. I am not amazing but I am pretty good. I was thinking about changing to ice hockey. I can Ice skate, i can't hockey stop though. Do you think it's worth it to change? Will it be like starting to learn how to play all over again? what do you think I should do, keep playing roller or start playing ice?
Definitely worth the change! I love ice hockey more than anything, even though I have played both. It just seems better, faster, harder, my opinion, but you might grow to share it. But ease into it. There will be some new things, it is a different element, but related in many ways, so if you have been playing for years, you will adapt fairly easily. After nine years you are definitely not a beginner, so it will not be totally brand new.
You make me laugh!! The stopping will come with a little time; it is really not as hard to pick up as you think. Plus you can get other players to show you, they might laugh at you at first, but it will most likely be good-natured and they will be happy to help if you ask for it. If you don’t want to ask, just watch them, I promise you will get it if you try. Have no fear. Make it your motto. ;)
I say that you pick you ice hockey while playing roller hockey less often if you can. If not, then give ice a go. You can always revert you know, so it is not a life or death decision. I think that you will enjoy ice as much at the very least or more. I know I did.
Good luck with your decision!

I play ice hockey.I am a right hand shooter. At witch wing should I play if i am a right hand shooter.
Your shooting hand has a little bit to do with what wing you'll want to play in. Obviously, as a right handed shooter it's obvious for you to shoot top right corner from the left wing as it allows you much more ease to position your shot towards the net. Therefore, most right handed shooters find a comfort in sticking with the left wing, but it's entirely up to your own personal liking.
Whats the official name of sport Ice hockey is it NFL or just ice hockey?
NFL --> The acronym used for 'National Football League'

I am writing a story and my characters (a teenage boy who is 17 and a teenage girl who is 17) both play high school ice hockey. The story is set in Minnesota at a high school where the main sport is ice hockey. I need to know when it starts and how long it goes for and when it ends. I really don't know a lot about ice hockey and so any other information will be good. I've played field hockey and so know how to play and the positions if they are the same. Thanks.
Well, I'm from the Western Canada. Practices have started, and games start in early January.

Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey Travels To Clarkson And St. Lawrence ...
Quinnipiac has won six of the 14 meetings against Clarkson, including wins in four of the last seven games. Quinnipiac lost to Clarkson in their last two meetings, 5-3 earlier this year, and 4-1 in Potsdam last season, but won the three previous meetings, including back-to-back wins on its home ice. Quinnipiac is 2-4-0 all-time at Cheel Arena. Clarkson is currently 12-9-2 overall and 6-4-1 in ECAC Hockey. The Golden Knights are coming off a 3-1 win against Brown on Jan. 22, but have won just twice in their last six games. Senior Brandon DeFazio leads Clarkson in goals (9), assists (9) and points (18) and is one of eight Golden Knights to reach double figures in points. Juniors Nick Tremblay (7-8--15) and Jake Morley (5-9--14) slide in behind DeFazio, followed by freshmen Matt Zarbo (6-7--13) and Allan McPherson (5-8--13) to round out Clarkson's top five. Paul Karopwich carries a 12-8-2 mark with a 2.95 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage. In their last meeting, DeFazio broke a 2-2 tie in the third period with a natural hat trick in the final frame to push Clarkson to a 5-3 win. Zarvo, Louke Oakley and Scott Freeman all had a pair of assists while Karpowch stopped 37 of Quinnipiac's 40 shot son goal. Quinnipiac and St. Lawrence have faced each other 15 times since their first meeting on Nov. 3, 2000. St. Lawrence holds the all-time edge, with eight wins to Quinnipiac's five, with two games coming to a draw. St. Lawrence's 6-4 win at the TD Bank Sports Center on Dec. 4, 2010 broke a string of three-straigth wins by the Bobcats against St. Lawrence. Quinnipiac is 2-5-1 all-time at St. Lawrence's Appleton Arena, with both wins coming in their last two games on the Saints' home ice. St. Lawrence is currently 7-12-4 overall and 3-8-0 in ECAC Hockey. The Saints are coming off a pair of losses to Brown (2-1) and Yale (4-1) last weekend and have one win in their last six games. Freshman Greg Carey leads SLU with 14 goals and 11 assists for 25 points while sophomore Kyle Flanagan has eight goals and 16 assists for 24 points. Matt Weninger has seen the majority of the minutes between the pipes for St. Lawrence, posting a 4-11-3 record with a 2.39 goals-against average and a .917 save percentage. In their last meeting, a 6-4 St. Lawrence win at the TD Bank Sports Center, Carey scored twice to lead the Saints including the game-winner in the third period. Saints' goalie Robbie Moss had 39 saves in the win. Quinnipiac currently holds the longest active unbeaten streak when leading after the second period in NCAA Division I men's ice hockey. The Bobcats are 54-0-5 in their last 59 games in that situation dating back to March 17, 2007. Miami was previous unbeaten in 81 straight games (78-0-3) dating back to March 9, 2007 before giving up a lead in the third period in a loss to Notre Dame on Dec. 3, 2010.
