Ice Hockey Socks

people said thin socks but i don't really have any, i have nike dry fit but they are kind of short, is it ok to wear trouser socks? what would others think of you if you did?

Where are you from? Judging by how you said "trouser" and "ice hockey" I would guess England. If so, it's great that the game is getting some love over there. As for your question, it's not too much to worry about. I played for years and just wore whatever socks I had on that day. Some guys go barefoot. Just do whatever is comfortable.

Anyone know a good website to buy mesh hockey socks? Grew up and place ice hockey in the northeast. Now I am in Texas and want to start playing again... only problem is i lost my old socks. There is a lack of hockey equipment stores in Texas and all i can find are heavy cotton/knit socks... Just want the light weight mesh type hockey socks i have lost!

After playing inline hockey where players wear full length pants I am going to start playing on ice where players wear socks. How do these socks stay on shin pads or attach to the body?

Old style you wore garters that kept them up; now the shorts you keep your cup in have velcro flaps that attach to the top of your socks and keep them up under your hockey pants.

I don't wear either. I don't need a cup, and the garters make me laugh. I wear workout pants under my gear because it keeps me cooler and warmer, and keeps my gear from getting as stinky.

So I just pull my socks up over my shinguards and tape them once around the top so they don't slip back down again. Sometimes I'll tape under my knee too, but really it's not a big deal. My pads and my socks all seem to stay put just fine.

I don't like bare legs against my shinguards. Gross. Ew.

I'm not the only person who does it this way, but I think most people wear the shorts. Even the girls on my girls' team do.

shoulder pads or whatever with a jersey
thin socks
shin&knee guards
the hockey socks
a helmet
gloves
skates
underarmor

what order do i put those on in? haha i like got stuck before. thanks so much (:

1.start naked
2.underwear
3.under armor (optional) (shirt and pj pants work too)
4.jock or the padding that girls have
5.shin pads
6.socks then clip or use the Velcro and put it on
7.the pants/shorts outside
8.skates
9.top
10.elbow pads
11.jersey
12.helmet
gloves and stick done.

1. What do ice hockey goalies wear underneath underarmour? (Boxers or underwear or anything?)

2. Do goalies wear hockey socks over their underarmour and then put their pads on over the hockey socks?

3. In goalie pants if there is are knee guards attached in it can you take them out if there is a thigh guard already attached to the pad? (Thigh Guard = Square Board)

4. How high (when a goalie is standing on his skates and his stick blade is tip down on the ice) should the stick? (chin or nose?)

5. On goalie skates what area of the skate should be tightened more, the foot part of the skate or the heel/ankle part of the skate?

6. Should you wear your ice hockey goalie pants lower or higher on your waist? How do you know how high/low to wear them???
