Would I be okay wearing my ice hockey pants instead of a roller hockey girdle and pants? Pros and Cons please.?

I have played ice hockey for about 15 years, but want to know how wearing regular ice hockey pants would effect my playing style compared to the other players. I know it may sound like a dumb question, but being financially strapped I wanted to know if I could even get away with it for a season or two.

So you wanna use your ice hockey pants in roller hockey? I did that for years Protection is better, plus you're using a pair that you've already broken in. The padding in most roller hockey girdles is less, they tend to use lower-density foams as there's less contact in roller, more of an emphesis on speed so they tend to wear lighter gear. If you're playing on sport court an occasional fall won't impact the durability of your breezers, but an occasional fall on asphalt will cause a tear here and there.

What is the difference between ice hockey pants and ice hockey girdles?

And a list of required equipment would be nice

hockey pants are basiclly pants with pads in them, goalies usually use these because hey have more padding, and girdles are like skin tight padded shorts, these give more flexibilty in your skating, there are still goalie pants for players but it all depends on how you play

What's the difference between Ice Hockey 'Pants. and Ice Hockey 'Girdles'?

I am looking to get some new hockey 'shorts' but when i shop online they come under either 'pants' or 'girdles' yet look pretty much the same?

Can anyone help?
Not sure that I understand the second answer? Would you wear both pants and girdles? If you have a girdle, do you need to buy padding to go in it?

there is not much difference; but usually the term girdle is used fro roller hockey and pants are used for ice

ice hockey pants, girdles, undergarments, jock?

I have a few questions about undergarments and pants for use in ice hockey, because I will be taking a course in ice hockey soon.
1) What are the differences between pants and girdles, and which one should I use (as a beginner)?
2) Is the holder for the groin cup(jock) built into the pants or girdle, or do I need to get the garment for holding the groin cup separate?
3) Will a jock I used in another sport (martial arts) be good use or should I get one specifically for hockey?
4) What kind of underwear should I wear under the jock strap? Is there a specific kind made for hockey?

1. Pants are a one piece padded pant. A girdle is the main padded area of the pants generally you where a shell over them, they are common for someone who may play on a few teams so the can interchange there pant color.
2. You need a separate jock it's not included in the pants.
3.As long as you are not a goalie any jock will do. Specific goalie jocks are available
4.underwear is up to you, sometimes I would go "commando" other times long John undies, under armor shorts Some companies actually make a one piece under short that holds your jock, and has garter belt straps to hold up your socks..

Can i wear ice hockey shorts underneath roller hockey pants?

i do both and im trying to save money :)

As my first grade teacher used to say..."I don't know, can you?"

  • An Introduction to Ice Hockey Equipment | Halifax Ball

Ice hockey protective gear includes skates, hockey socks, shin guards, elbow guards, knee guards, jock straps, padded hockey trousers, gloves, wrist guards, shoulder pads, face masks, helmets, hockey sweaters and puck. Other than these, players make use of woollen and polyester socks as well.

Let’s take a look at why all this equipment is essential:

    1. Helmets: These are used to protect your head and face while slips and falls. 7. Mouth Guards: As the name suggests! Mouth Guards are available in a few variations such as standard plastic guards or guards made up of custom-mouldable compounds to make it easy for the player to speak.
