Hockey Tape

There are a lot of hockey tapes on the market (Renfrew, CanTech,Jaybird) So, I was wondering what is the difference between them? Which one is better and why?
And I also want to know to know the structure of the tape, of what it is made and in what a percentage materials are used.

There are no significant differences between the different brands of hockey tape. Most are made of cotton with an adhesive. The adhesive while manufactured by different companies is also not significantly different.

Much like linens, the difference in quality of any cloth tape is in the thread count. The higher the thread count, the better the quality. You typically will not be able to notice the difference in thread count by looking at two rolls of hockey tape made by different manufacturers side by side. One company may have a slightly higher thread count than another but you would likely need to count it yourself or contact each manufacturer to get the official numbers. You could see a significant difference in the thread count if you held up a roll of cloth medical tape to hockey tape. It's designed to be disposable anyway, so they use the cloth with the lower thread count to keep it cost effective.

I taped the bottom of my stick with black tape. I remember one of the girls on my team telling me not to use black tape for the grip part. Is this right? Why? And what color should I use for the grip? Thanks.

Use White for the grip tape......Black tape has more acidity in it and chew up your gloves faster than white will. Also, I know that people are way against using white tape on their blades of the stick but I do.......my college coach told us about some story about a Herb Brooks and white tape......yeah after about the 5th beer he had me convinced!

I had a ice pack taped on my arm one day with black hockey tape and when i took it off it left black marks from the glue on the jersey. How do i get rid of said black marks. I have washed it 3 times and nothing.

I bought some hockey tape at Sport Chek, unfortunately it's not the cloth kind it is like electric tape! What is this used for? Is it any good?

yes. You use it to tape around your hockey socks to help keep your shin guards from shifting. Even with the velcro on the new shin guards the tape still adds an added protection for them shifting .
