Hockey Player

So just how long would it take for a hockey player(amateur or proffesional players) to adjust to speed skating(short track or long track)? And vice versa.(speed skating to hockey)

*Both hockey players and speed skaters use the same muscles for powerskating.

*Speed skates have more blade on ice for efficiency while hockey skates tend to have shorter blades for maneuver.

I'd hypothesize that it would depend on how much they skate. Just the blade size transition would be hard since the length of blade on a speed skate is much longer than a hockey skate. The blades are much more thin too. Also speed skates are more like a track shoe, whereas hockey skates provide much more ankle support. I'd assume less constriction for the ankle allows more range of motion, making pushing easier. Only from my experience with different figure blades, I think it would just be a matter of adjusting to the skates, which sometimes does not take long. Experience with each sport will most likely help each other.

Ok the hockey league that Im playing in is having the players vote for rookie of the year, best defenseman, etc, And Im up for rookie of the year, me and two other players. Which leads me to the question would you rather vote for a hockey player who scores a lot and does not care about making plays for his teammates or a hockey player who scores occasionally, but helps his teammates before he helps himself?

hey, hockey is awesome...i would rather have someone who knows what they are doing, and does it well, cheers for their team, isn't negative, and who wants it but normally the coaches want someone who scores a lot or is GREAT at defense..(ME) but anyways so i would rather have helps others before himself!

I'm doing a school project on hockey players and I tried looking everywhere on their training methods. Try to answers these two questions:

1-What are the number of hours dedicated to off-season training, in season training and pre and post season training?

2-What is the proper weight training, nutrition, stretching agility training, cardio training and rest periods of a profession hockey player?

Here is what I think. Contact a local high school or youth league coach or trainer. If there aren't any near you, e-mail the trainer for your favorite team. I have gotten several letters over the years from the Red Wings trainer(s) when I had questions. Also, ask any players you know.

Off season training is more up to the individual I think. Some work harder than others. It's all about conditioning so I imagine most players try to stay in shape somehow.

All you need to do is right click on the video and go to zoom. there should then be a full screen option.
