Hockey Patches

So my dad loves hockey and even more to referee it and he has a lot of patches (45) that he can't use anymore because they are from 2006 and earlier, as early as '93 and I want to make him something unique for x-mas. Any suggestions?

you already asked this question before... make sure you have approval to do anything with them. Chances are he has a personal connection to them and you making something out of the patches might upset him, just letting you know.. you probably shouldn't touch them.

I was thinking about getting a Winter Classic Flyers jersey but I'm not so crazy about having the Winter Classic patch on it (I don't really like extra patches on jerseys in general). Is there a way to easily remove it?

Depends on how it sticks it to the jersey. If it is sewed, do it manually if you think you can. Use scissors, the sewing type preferably ( http://www.flickr.com/photos/zooraves/45 49001432/ ), and cut each part of the thread that is attached to the jersey. Do it precisely, otherwise you'll screw your jersey. If you prefer a specialist to do it for you or if it is more complex like embroidered, take it to a fabric store, where they sell textiles and other materials, and ask them to do it for you. You'll have to pay, but they should be able to help you.
If they use glue to stick it (like minor teams and practise jerseys), use a heated iron on it by moving, don't let the iron statically there it'll get burnt, always move. When you feel it is hot enough and that the glue melted, try removing the patch manually. Take your time if you don't want your jersey to get damaged.

I have an authentic Malkin Penguins jersey that I bought off of ebay but the letters and numbers on it are not the authentic sewn-on multi-layer tackle twill. Where can I find the multi-layer tackle twill patches so I can make my jersey complete? I checked on ebay and all I could find is iron on patches.

Every website I look at only has them available for a teams worth of numbers. I just want 1 single digit. Any ideas??

Try asking local sports teams where they get theres done. I had my done at a sports shop where I live.
I got the number 09. They will do any number and any name for you.

i play ice hockey and my back bad can i use the icy hot patches when i play ?

Normally Icy Hot and similar products are used before and after strenuous activities. But then again I used Icy Hot while running during Track practice with the hurdles and I don't think it did any harm.

I'm no expert but I think you will be okay...
