Hockey Pants

Hockey players. what do you think is better, regular hockey pants or a girdle with a shell? just seeing what others think. Trying to make a decision.

I am partial to the hockey pants. They just fit better for me personally. You may want to borrow whichever you do not have and try them before you spend any money

I am collecting ice hockey pants (Tackla preferred), and I am looking for a yellow or orange pair. Does anyone know where to get those?

Internet? If you can find a timbor carved aboriginal lizard on ebay you can find hockey pants. Happy hunting ;-)

I was looking to purchase a new pair of hockey pants but I saw, while shopping around, that many new girdles on the market provide alot of padding/protection. Seeing as it would be cheaper, I was wondering if it would provide enough protection to just where the girdle with a shell over top?

A girdle is basically just a housing for the pads and is more versatile than "pants" which are basically like a girdle with a shell sewn permanently over it. Girdles come in all thicknesses, durability, quality, etc so it depends on what kind you get.

Additional Info: Inline players usually use a girdle underneath full-length pants (that go all the way down to the skates) and ice players who wear girdles have the option to change the color of their "pants" (which are actually the length of shorts) to match the team uniform (if necessary) simply by swapping shells.

im looking to buy hockey pants but dont know if i need both hockey pants & a girdie or if the pads are already built into pants.Do pant shells have padding?

all regular hockey pants have the padding built into them.

if for some reason you want to change the colour of your pants (if your team wants everyone to match exactly) you can buy shells that go over your pants.
some of the nhl team players wear shells over their pants when they wear 3rd jerseys that are a different colour of shade of colour.

also, the old cooperalls had a separate pants and shell/long pants. those came out decades ago and you only see a few old timers playing rec hockey wearing them anymore.
