Deep in the goalie zone, Wes takes you through goalie pad considerations depending on your style... are you butterfly or stand up?
I am looking to get cheap ice hockey pads to play pick ups, I don't need anything super expensive. Also, could I get a list of stuff I need? I have skates, sticks, and gloves. Should I just buy used?
So would a package deal from like hockeymonkey be good?
Here is a good site that gives you an in depth hockey checklist:

They also sell equipment, they carry a lot of previous year model stuff you can find some pretty good deals on their site.

Hi, this may sound a stupid question, i'm new to hockey goaltending and I bought some new RBK 9k hockey pads, but they seem a little too large for my legs. Do goalies wear shin pads, just hockey socks, or something else? Or do I just have to tighten the straps? Is there something to put between my legs and the pads?
Thanks in advance
Under my pads I wear regular hockey socks and RBK knee pads over the hockey socks. Thigh boards are illegal now and knee pads do the same thing and offer more protection. They help fill up the knee cradle and I think that they help my knee to move better in the cradle making it easier to butterfly. It's going to take a long time to figure out how you like your pads strapped on. I like my pads kind of loose, but I keep my toe tie extremely tight(make sure you use your toe tie). I know some goalies that wear compression pants under their pads but I've never seen a reason to.
I'm extremely OCD when it comes to my leg pads and how tight my straps are, I tighten each leather strap down to where there are a certain number of holes showing, this also helps me remember where I usually tighten them down to. On the strap that goes through my skate I leave two holes visible, on the next three straps on my calf I go 3(bottom), 4(middle), 5(top). On my two upper straps I keep them as loose as I can, they're just there to keep the pads from flopping around. I don't know that's all I can think of right now; these are just my opinions, most things are just personal preference do what feels best.
Email me if you have any other questions, I'll be glad to help with anything.

^^I have this pair but they're old and the velcro and elastic straps are worn out but they have seen a ton of use. I wouldn't play without them.

I am shopping for hockey goalie pads online, but I am worried that when they come, the pads will not fit me. Help?
Have you read any equipment fitting guides like this one?

I buy everything on line with no problems.
I am looking into getting ice hockey equipment. My boyfriend is teaching me to play, so I need to get all the required equipment. Is there a difference between men and womens shoulder pads? I got a pair of men's and they seem a little tight around the bust but at my local hockey store all they have is men's.
Men's pads will work fine, but women's pads have a large chest plate that is molded for a woman's body. If you can only find men's, use them, but make sure you find a model that doesn't easily ride up.
