Hockey Neck Guard

Well this week I have hockey training camp with my team. I have been playing hockey for 10 years and this has never happened. in the last hour of my camp my neck started to burn really bad so I just ignore it and after at home my neck is red. I put on some aloe Vera at home. To day it burned even more and my neck is even more red. The red part of my neck is kinda random all over not in one big band or anything like that. the lines in random strips around and up and down.
I DID wash my neck guard in between the days and have been using the same detergent as I always do. the neck guard was on as tight as it always is, so its not rubbing or anything. Pretty confusing ehh...
Anyone know what I should do?

Maybe you are allergic to the material, or maybe when you sweat it gets underneith the neck guard and the sweat irritates your skin. I know this isn't manly, but maybe you should put baby powder on the neck guard so it soaks up the sweat a little. Or, you could buy a new neck guard from a different company to see if you're allergic to the material from your current one.

Why you should wear a neck guard

How can i take the paint off my neck guard or make it look better. i have to wear one in my league and i think it just looks stupid because in bright white paint it says BAUER and has all the sizing information.

If it really bothers you that much, stick some tape over it maybe? That might just look more stupid though, haha. Up to you. :P

I want to know so when I go get a mouth guard (which I might need) I could get a neck guard. But I also don't want to look like an idiot with it on (I'm on a girls and guys team). So how rare are those injuries?

Fairly rare. You don't need a neck guard.

Florida Panthers forward Richard Zednik suffered a horrific injury during a game against the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday night. Zednik's neck was slashed by a teammate's skate, causing a deep gash which required surgery to close.

These things are one in a million. The last time this has happened was back in '89. That's 19 years. But, I can tell you that a lot more players will think about integrating them now (until they become too uncomfortable with it) and a lot more goalies will start wearing their plastic throat guards for a quite a while.

Superdag, I think I know who you're talking about, but didn't she get cut in the face? Figure skaters with cage masks? lol

this subject interests very much. im also doing a research paper on the subject and im looking for good sources for it.

The slight inconvenience of wearing a neck guard out-ways the major problems associated with a severed artery during a hockey accident.
The similarities to wearing a seat belt while operating a motor vehicle comes to mind. The probabilities of needing a seat belt on are likely similar to that of requiring a neck guard but the results of failing to wear one can be catastrophic.
