I am a high school hockey goalie and looking for good off ice training drills. Thanks for any help.
Just play in a roller hockey league, preferably on sport court so that you can use the same pads (but get different skates and be sure to have white stick tape on the blade)
I play highschool level field hockey and I am looking for ways that I can get better endurace, agility and overall goalie skills over the summer. Does anyone know any good camps around the N.H. area or some ways I can improve at home?
Thanks,
Ashley
Join a league if you can. Right now I am doing three different leagues a week to get ready (I too am a goalie). If the goals are still out go to them and practice going side to side, your angles, and if you know any team members grab them to practice shots.
Even if they are not do suicides and practice stacks, dives, splits, and clears.
For endurance go for a long run and alternate sprint and jog. If you want to learn new things look for some sites online with moves or look at youtube.
Agility wise do sprints and the side to side thingys.
Hope the best!

Hey, I'm a 13 year old bantam hockey goalie. I'm around 92 pounds and 5'1. I'm a girl, so i wont be playing with boys teams once this season is over, eh? so i need to get in better shape so i can make the nearest girls team, the U.P state team. its where all the best girl players in the upper peninsula come together at a school and form a hockey team ya kno? its sorta like a college team. you need grades and skill. so i need an on AND off ice program fitted to my size and position to become an even better goalie. any help would be appreciated, suggestions/plans/websites i could go to to get a plan, or pretty much anything ya kno? thanks
Try and find "The Art of Goaltending" by Vladislav Tretiak. When I was your age this book helped me learn more aboot goaltending then any camp, clinic, Video or coach I trained with. Hand eye coordination is huge. Have a tennis ball and bounce it whenever you can, catch with both hands. You need to do alot of "core" training (the middle section of your body) Strong abs, back and hips are crucial. Endurance is a huge part of the game to, run, bike, or rollerblade to get that heart rate rolling. Stretch thoroughly before and after workouts, and during any down time, If your watching TV get on the floor and stretch, do splits, work that flexibility. Good luck. and above all else. "Keep your stick down, stay out of your crease, on your feet and Kick but"
Edit: Don't practice the butterfly until you have mastered stand up

How much is too much? Training guidelines for young goalies. | The ...
I had a post on this topic a few months ago, but I continue to get more questions about it, so today I want to share my philosophy on training young goalies. It is fine if you disagree, but this is my philosophy that guides my decisions regarding most youth athletes. I appreciate that there are some sports where athletes are reaching their competitive peak at a very young age, but I am not involved in those sports and this article will deal with hockey goalies specifically.
Let’s get one thing clear, it is typically not the crazy parents that are driving the demand for specialized training of their 10-year old. Typically, parents are trying to do the right thing. Many of them have never played hockey themselves so they are just trying to give their child every advantage to succeed. I get emails every week from parents wishing to hire me as the strength coach to Johnny or Suzy. Once I explain to them what I am going to explain to you they usually reply – “yeah that makes perfect sense, I just didn’t want to be holding Suzy back.”
