My non-profit (youth hockey assoc) is fundraising with a raffle. Is there a way to sell tickets online?
Centraide Umbrella Walk with the Stingers Hockey Team

My community youth hockey association is raffling off a Harley motorcycle to raise funds. Is it possible in the state of Wisconsin to sell the tickets through our web site, and if so, can that be done using Paypal or some other service?

I believe it's possible, but I also believe that you need to fill out certain paperwork to legally do it. I remember a couple had did something similar but with their house. Since it was a raffle, it's considered gambling in their state. So the winner of the raffle was required to pay taxes on her winnings.

There's has also been similar stories where people have tried it on Craigslist and eBay, so I'm pretty positive it's okay for you to do it since it's for a non-profit organization. But like I said, the only thing I would check is with your local laws in regards to giveaways and if there are any necessary paperwork that needs to be done by not just you, but also whoever wins the raffle.

Hope that helps and I wish you the best of luck with the fundraiser.

Hockey Fundraiser-How To Have A Successful Hockey Fundraiser

Hockey can be an expensive sport to play. With the rising costs of hockey equipment, the only choice for some schools and organizations is to hold ...

Fundraising: Is it possible to use fundraising programs to raise funds for hockey equipment?
(Untitled)

It's for my older brother(21) me(16) and younger brother(13). We want to enter recreation leagues, but dont have the cash for equipment. Is it legal to get a fundraising program and do it on our own to raise money for our equipment? We don't belong to a team. It's just something we want to do for fun during the winter and spring. Is it legal to do this?

Are there other, legal ways to raise money for our equipment(since our jobs barely pay our bills?)

you can collect cans thats always a good one and idk if it is illegal but people will think something is wierd

I need some fundraising ideas for a girl's ice hockey team?
(Untitled)

Well, basically, my school doesn't have a girl's ice hockey team so i am trying to start one. However, between rink time, equipment, and so many other costs- we need a couple thousand dollars to get us on our feet and let the athletic director say yes. Please can someone give me any good ideas to raise this much money?

Raffles are a great way to make money. What you can do is go to a local bar, (wait, how old are you?) Anyways, go some place, like a bar, where you can hold an event. See if you can find DJ's or bands who are willing to play for free, for the fundraiser. They probably will do it for free anyways.

Next, go around to local businesses and see if they can help sponsor the event. Or, ask them to donate something, and in return, you mention their name as you raffle off the prizes.

I know my friend who is on a Roller Derby team does this ALL the time. She says it's a great way to buy time at the roller rink, and buy jersey's for the team.

Talking to your local NHL team would be great too.

It's a lot of hard work, but worth the effort... and get all the girls who are interested in it to help out too.

Or, you can try and have a carnival or something.

does any1 have any fundraising ideas for a youth ice hockey team?

The boys have been invited to play in a tournament in Sweden and we're trying to raise as much as we can to get them there. As we're in Scotland the weather prevents lots of things ie:car wash, rummage sale etc.

Congrats to that awesome opportunity. In my experience selling candy bars works really well. I am sure there are companies in Scotland that have fund raising deals like here in the States. They don't cost that much, kids can go door to door (with a parent or older kid if they are young) and people will buy one or more and you get the money right away. You can do it more than once, too, and some local businesses might be willing to put the candy on the counter at their store and sell them for you that way.

This worked really well for my kids ball teams (soft ball, baseball) years ago and more recently, my granddaughter's competitive cheer team. You'd probably have to have some other kind of fund raiser, too. A rummage sale maybe at the school or local church? Raffling off a gift basket was a good idea, too. That works really well at my younger granddaughter's school for their big spring fundraiser.

Some of the gift baskets that were donated to raffle were, a whole tub full of Sponge Bob stuff, Webkinz, Twilight books and posters and the first DVD. Local college items like shirts and pennants and stuff. One nice one was full of jams and jellies.

Good luck! I hope they get to go!

What are some fundraising ideas for guys at a college looking to fund an inline hockey team?
SOURIS VS O'LEARY - 2011 PEI SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS (107)

All suggestions will be helpful, but please don't mention carwash. It's a pretty obvious one. Only serious responses will be considered.

Having played for a rugby team before a neck injury re-introduced me to hockey, a few things we did (all of which work):

1) Calendars work. I can't tell you how many rugby teams have put out calendars (often times showing a little cheesecake/beefcake). The upfront cost is minimal. Market the calendar wisely and you can do well. Have fun with it.
2) If you're of legal drinking age...celebrity bartending nights at your local bar/pub. You guys work, and you keep a portion of revenues.
3) Program/scorecard sales at games. If you have an NHL team nearby, contact them about doing this. You volunteer your time, and keep a portion of what you sell.
4) Volunteer to scorekeep and help out youth hockey. Youth teams always need scorekeepers, referees, etc. Get on good terms with the hockey community, and it helps. Plus, the local rink(s) might then be inclined to help you with costs.
5) If you can, sell sponsorships (not sure the legality of this with a college). Your team has to have a website, and put links to their site on yours. Offer to promote their company (my rugby team's sponsor (a local pub) bought us a full playing kit and put their logo on our shirts)
6) Amazon and NHL.com have free marketing programs. People go their sites through your website, and if they buy stuff, you get a percentage of what they buy. Complete no-brainer (I volunteer with a greyhound adoption group in the GTA, and we do this with Amazon.ca; last year we earned just over $1,000 from this).

As a bigger picture...befriend your local community. Volunteer your time. Be visible. A group of polite young men in hockey sweaters donating their time to a charitable cause buys you a lot of goodwill. If the only time people see you is when you have your hat in hand...not so good. Scratch someone else's back and they'll help you.

  • UAF Women's Hockey Fundraising Calendar » Alaska Wedding ...

Tomorrow is the exciting culmination of a big project we’ve been working on over the past month. One of our brides asked us last year if we’d help with creating images for a UAF Women’s Hockey Team Fundraising calendar, but unfortunately our schedule was full. So we put it on our schedule for this year and have been anxiously awaiting it!

The Alaska Girls’ & Women’s Hockey Association, who is sponsoring the calendar, supports teams ranging from under 8 year-old girls all the way to university age women. For community projects we photograph, we like to benefit as many people as possible, and also create images that have a historical and storytelling purpose. So after a lot of brainstorming and planning, the idea was hatched to create portraits that combined the university women with the youngest generation of girls.
