What measurement should my ice hockey blades be sharpened to?
Blades Meets Alice

Taking my ice hockey skates to be sharpened. What length should the cut be? Any recommendations?

A few factors will determine the best radius to have your skates ground to.

Usually, 7/16 is the radius of choice. However, if the ice you play on is softer than normal, you may need to increase the radius to 1/2 avoid cutting into the ice as much. If you play on a harder ice than normal the opposite is true, you may need to go to a 3/8.

What is your style of play? Do you grind in the corners? Stop and start a lot? You may want to stay with a 7/16. Too much radius, like a 1/2, and you will slide too much on your stops. A sharp radius like a 3/8 and you will dig into the ice too much, and tire easily.

It is mostly personal preference, so I say try a couple of different ones to see what suits you best.

Good luck,

Steve.

Whats is the difference between Junior and Senior hockey roller blades/skates?
0024

I'm buying a new pair of hockey roller blades, and there's senior and junior blades. But what is the difference because in the junior it says it goes up to size 14 but in senior it says the same thing, so is there any other difference than size?

No difference other than size.

How do you tie the laces? I tie them and they're to lose? They're even my foot size. They're very lose around me ankles.

I usually tie the laces. Not sure you can tie blades. You must be strong.

  • Buying Guide for the Best Hockey Equipment | My Article Directory

When you acquire hockey equipment, whether it’s meant for you, a child of yours or a different family member, you want to make sure that you’re acquiring all that you need and that it will be trustworthy and well built. It isn’t entirely necessary for you to buy highest priced gear on the market, yet it needs to be decent enough to allow sufficient safeguarding, and works well with the size, aptitude and style of the player. To help you locate hockey equipment that will meet your needs, we’ve come up with some instructions to follow when you shop.

You’ll never buy pieces of hockey equipment that are more important than your skates. Just as shoes are critical for basketball players and track stars, skates are crucial pieces of equipment in the sport of hockey. Your skates ought to be one and a half sizes smaller than the shoes you wear if you want them to fit properly. While comfort is important to consider, you need to set aside a proper amount of time to break the skates in before you worry about that. Trust me, never wear new skates for a game unless they’ve been really broken in through practice sessions before the game.
