I don't play hockey but I love it and I also like art. I wanted to paint a goalie mask for an art project, but, i don't know which goalie helmet to use. I don't want to spend to much money on it though.
It doesn't matter if it's for street hockey or ice cause no one will be using it for protecting their head.
I was wondering if you guys could list some helmets that are good for this project.
I did not know there were different kinds, but this is a painting section. Maybe you could find more answers in the sports section. If it doesn't make a difference what kind of a helmet I would check out garage sales or creglist, even put an ad there. Get a used helmet, you will repaint it anyway. Maybe someone would donate one.
On the surface at least, hockey and art may not seem to have much in common. Once one starts looking more closely however, there is all kinds of ...
He is a family member. He used to play for the Toronto Mapleleafs and he was there star player at one point, and i dont know anything else about his career. Does anyone have a site or anything that i can find out more about him?
There is this cool thing called "Google", it's pretty neat.
You can search pretty much anything and get numerous sites about that subject!
So you just type in "Art Thoms" and start "surfin' that interweb"!
Almost every child knows how to use Google. Now it's your turn to learn!

He's my favorite player, but the season is over and I still can't find his name anywhere. :S Living in the Southern US, it's not unheard of to miss hockey news, so can anyone tell me if I missed something?
He was with the Macon Trax, then was later with the Orlando Seals and the Pee Dee Cyclones. Last season he was with the Knoxville Ice Bears. Where is he this year?
According to www.hockeydb.com he didn't play this past season, and all articles I found pertaining to him are from the 07/08 season or earlier.
This Vinyl Wall Decal is 60" Tall X 57" Wide

Some decals may come in multiple pieces due to the size of the design. Application is fun and easy. Using only a plastic card, like a credit card or a plastic squeegee.
Haha, I chose hockey as my theme for the whole semester in an attempt to make my art class more interesting. My art class is 'arts médiatiques', which is like media-based art. Don't know how to really explain it in English...
But yeah, this is my 'final exam', an animation project. Some people are doing, like, claymation (haha, so ugly!) and some people are filming themselves doing something. But it can't be outright filming, it's more of a slideshow. If that makes sense.
Anyways, I'm completely stumped on what I should do. If any hockey fans have an idea, let me know!
Important note; my teacher doesn't want it to be funny in the least. It has to be artistic. Nothing comedic No cute little cartoon animation, no dumb prop (my classmate suggested an inflatable Stanley Cup... XD).
Yeah, I wasn't really clear when I meant 'slideshow', I mean it has to be a movie, but with pictures... kind of like claymation, you know? When you change the little sculpture, take a picture, change it some more, take another picture, and assemble it into some kind of weird movie... XD; An actual slideshow would've been so fun and easy to do, what a shame... D:
Arts médiatiques, do you live in Quebec? I'm in Montreal, and I had a class called Arts et communication :)
Anyways, maybe you could find a good friend hockey player/goalie, or simply pictures on the Internet like a goalie making an amazing save or a player doing a impressive deke (step by step) On a goal of a player but in the goalie's perspective (behind him, I don't know if you've seen goalie mode in NHL video game), from the camera behind the net, or directly over the net.
Goalie mode like: http://www.flickr.com/photos/busman/3045 93402/
Camera in the net:http://cdn.nhl.com/devils/images/upload/ 2007/11/recapin1130.jpg
Over the net: http://www.montrealgazette.com/sports/ho ckey/montreal-canadiens/2403664.bin
If possible, you could create images of a save or a goal, from a goalie view, with the cage vision like you were the goalie and was directly seeing the action. If you're good with photoshop, it shouldn't be that hard. Or maybe putting the camera in the mask or something than taking shots from the video in your computer, but I doubt it would be steady. If you're using a photo camera, I don't really know how you could take pictures then. Unless you take off the back plate of the mask, then find tripod and put the mask in front/around on the camera, but that's a bit complicated.
I hope I inspired you a lil bit, good luck.
Just curious. I have equal love and respect for both hockey and martial arts.
I have to say that I don't enjoy the hockey fights very much. They don't allow them to progress long enough usually. I love watching hockey, tho'. The speed, skill and conditioning (both mental and physical) that it takes to play the game is extremely impressive.
