Hockey All Star Game

Can you list the east division and west division? :)

The coaches should likely be the ones from Boston and San Jose judging by the current standings. If all is still the same as it usually it, they will play the largest role in selecting the rest of the rosters.

So far it's mostly the younger stars of the game that have been voted into the starting spots.

In the west, it's Kane, Toews, and Getzlaf up front with Campbell and Niedermayer on the points and Giggy in net.

In the east it's Crosby, Malkin and Kovalev up front, with Markov and Komisarek on the points and Price in goal.

The rest of the rosters will likely see players such as Thornton, Boyle, Nabokov, Savard, Chara, Thomas as coaches personal picks, followed by filling in the rosters with players such as Ovechkin, Carter, Green, Vanek, Semin and such in the east, Iginla, Backstrom, Datsyuk, Lidstrom and such in the west (but time will tell who the coaches select to complete the rosters)

When they come out what site is the official site. I am guessing it is the same site they sell montreal canadian tickets. And how much more do they cost compared to normal hockey game tickets.

Well the official website is nhl.com but if the prices there are too high you could try stubhub.com. On that website you can purchase tickets for pretty much any event that other people have already purchased. So therefore you can get tickets cheaper there.

No one hits. No one backchecks. Other than goalies, no one blocks shots. Every player gets equal time. The coaches don't match lines. Few checking forwards get invited to the all-star game. It's a meaningless contest and no one wants to get injured and miss real games.

if there was to be an all star game in 2010 id like to see some of the young kids on the rangers like brandon dubinsky, marc staal, ryan callahan, nigel dawes, and not so many players that dont belong there the league should really not let players that are not that good its called an ALL STAR GAME and the all star games are boring now i hate these 11-10 shoot out games there awfull

I've been meaning to ask this for a week, but kept forgetting. I live in Northern Colorado, near where the Colorado Eagles (Central Hockey League) play. I happened to be given 2 tickets the CHL All-Star game which was hosted by the Colorado Eagles.

They brought back the old NHL All-Star game format. So it was the Colorado Eagles vs. CHL All-Stars.

Now I had gone through a list of pros and cons for each team. Obviously the Eagles know each other, have chemistry, have the home crowd. The All-Stars have talent on every line.

I went to the game hoping that it would be a close game.

The game went into the 3rd period tied at 3. The Eagles ended up winning 8-4!

It ended up being one of the best hockey games I have ever gone to. There was some hitting, but not as much as normal. There were penalties called and strategy.



Basically my question is what do you think of that format?


I'm telling you right now, I don't care about sports all-star games. I don't care about the outcome, I don't go out of my way to watch it. But I love this format that the CHL adopted. Until the 3rd period, it was a close game! Then to watch this guy Konrad Reeder score 4 goals, one was shorthanded, against All-Stars.

Do you think the NHL and other sports should use a similar format?
First of all the CHL is minor league hockey, but they are all the same talent level. Both teams had pros and cons to make it even.

Second, there is no rule that every team must have a player in the All-Star game. I know this because I was listening to it being discussed. There is no rule saying every team has to have a player in, it's usually done as a respect/gentlemen thing.

Are you kidding me about the injuries? There's still very little contact. The current format sucks and is boring.

At least this way there is pride on the line.

And if most players would rather rest than play, then why would it be a problem is half the number of All-Stars have to play?

I agree, the current format is lame and needs reworking.
maybe you should become a NBA fan instead... more specifically a MAVS fan.
