A couple of friends and I want to be the Hansen Brothers for Halloween. We have the hockey gear, wigs and glasses but need the jerseys.

Here you go dude!

I have lots to choose from. Great idea for a costume!

It's a shame about Paul Newman. He was great in that flick!

Hey Emily! This would work great for your costume:

The Hanson Brothers - The Hockey Song

The Hockey Song by The Hanson Bros.

Who are the Hanson brothers and do I look like one?
Newman- "Noir Shot"

I keep getting told I look like a Hanson Brother. Is that true?
And who are they? When I google them I get a bunch of stuff about hockey, are they hockey players?
The following link is a pcture of me so ou can tell me if I look like them or not

Is anyone clicking the photobucket link?
I want to know if I look like them in that pic

Bear with me, this is complicated. About thirty years ago, in Minnesota, there were these three Viking-looking goonish minor-league hockey player brothers named Jeff, Steve and Jack Carlson. They had minor celebrity status among aficionadoes of the sport because they were extremely rough on the ice -- even by the standards of hockey -- and very funny when interviewed because most of them wore thick glasses and talked like they were mildly retarded; they also tended to be interviewed as a group where they would finish each other's sentences and, fairly regularly, start fistfights with each other mid-interview; like you they had long hair. In the mid 70s, Paul Newman made a film called Slap Shot, in which the three brothers were featured as the secret weapon of the team that he managed; however, Jack Carlson could not appear in the movie because he could not get out of his semi-pro hockey contract to film during the playing season, so they hired another big Midwestern Scandinavian hockey player who resembled the Carlsons named David Hanson to replace him. David Hanson had been hired to play a guy named David Carlson, so they renamed the characters that the other two Carlsons played "Hanson," and thus you find on the net references to the phenomenon of the hockey-playing Hanson Brothers.

Now to your second question. I looked at your picture. Although you do resemble the brothers in this long haired blond boy band, you also look vaguely like any of the hockey Hansons -- you have the blond hair, blue eyes, and vaguely stupid look on the face that screams "upper Midwest Scandinavian hockey monster." Now if you can tuck the hair under a helmet, put on some Coke-bottle lenses, and smash anything that moves, you'd look like them too.

All of the players aside from Jeff Carlson reached the NHL for at least some period of time.

Tom: I cannot even figure the number of times I have seen it and I can quote it word for word. My favorite thing to do with my friends is point out the little things going on in the background that the average viewer skips over. There are dozens of little touches like that throughout the movie.

Is slapshot by consensus the greatest Hockey movie ever made?
The Hanson Brothers taking the faceoff for the Whalers alumni

I admit, what competition does it have, as I think its the ONLY hockey movie ever made, but what a classic!
Long live the immortal Brothers hanson!
What great one-liners!

I'll have to watch it tonight, as its been a good long year since I saw it
(we watch it every year at the beginning of Hockey season).
Don't you love the part where the Hanson
Brothers pull off a Triple Clothesline, as
they gather together like the four horsemen
to gang tackle and knock on their a s s every opposing player in sight!

Though decried by much of the NHL upon release - many league higher ups felt fans would lump the brawl-filled 1970s NHL with the brawl-filled minor league featured in the film - the movie is still a staple on NHL buses and team charters. It's not uncommon for NHL players born years after the movie's release to name it as their favorite movie. In locker rooms, players refer to reporters who write an untrue rumor with conviction as "Dickie Dunn."

Great movie... I actually saw it at the the theater when I was a kid.

Worst movie: Slapshot 2. I recall pulling it out of my DVD player 1/3 of the way though and snapping it in two.

What's your favorite line/quote from the movie Slapshot?
The famed "Hanson Brothers" doing their thing at Hartford Whalers/Boston Bruins Alumni game

That movie is so appropriate right now with the NHL playoffs on. Also I have at least two "Hanson" brothers on my hockey team.

Peterboro Referee: Got my eye on the three of you. You pull one thing, you're out of this game. I run a clean game here. I have any trouble here, I'll suspend ya.
Steve Hanson: I'm listening to the f%cking song

.Reggie Dunlop: Well, maybe Braden's a f%ggot, you ever think of that?
Denis Lemieux: No way, he got a big c%ck, like horse.

Johnny Upton: I'm gonna flash'em, Joe.
McGrath: No, you're not.
Johnny Upton: I'm gonna open up this f%ggot robe and wiggle my d%ck at em. And do you know why? Because I want you to have a heart-attack and die so we don't have to do this sh%t anymore. You and your f%cking fashion shows.

Ned Braden: What are you doing?
Jeff Hanson: Puttin' on the foil!
Steve Hanson: Every game!
Jack Hanson: Want some?

and a few more!~
