Girls Hockey

i play hockey...and quite obviously i'm a girl but we have to travel to diferent states to find another girls team......it's pretty big in canada but why not here. when i tell people i play hockey they're like "there's girls ice hockey? i had no idea!"

Not just Canada, Minnesota has 100+ girls' hockey teams. I think Wisconsin and Michigan also have a decent number, though neither has two classes/divisions like Minnesota does. Maybe you just live in the wrong state.

I play hockey and im a girl. but i play with guys. and im probably like the fourth worst player on the team. well next year my parents are getting me into some girls hockey crap "for college". They act like i'll dominate the leagues, up to the olympics. and i'm thinking, how in the hell? if at this point i cant make Varisty on my Highschool league, how am i going to be that good at this other place? so theres something they know that i dont. I go to youtube and search for girl hockey footage. nothing. i search for olympic girls hockey, and there are some things. but it all sucks man! so tell me, do all girls like in college teams like suck at hockey? is there any proof of awesomeness? help is appreciated. thank you.

I don't think you are giving yourself enough credit. You are playing with the guys right now, this says something about your ability to play the game, Even if you were the worst player on the guys team you still get out there and play, "Bravo" I would admire you for that alone. Your parents obviously are proud of you and I don't think they would send you down a road you couldn't be sucessful at. Girls hockey is pretty damn good hockey today so no they don't all suck. Maybe you are just that good. Take some credit and be confident in yourself and maybe I will watch you on the Olympic team. "To bad you won't be playing on our Canadian Team". Good luck and have fun

I havnt played a sport in about two years now, but I am ready to play again, and I am interesting in hockey!
the problem is one I can not ice skate, im fair or not even fair at roller blading and I have not played hockey really before.
I am just about to turn 15 so any ideas what I should to get started?

first thing first. I would try it before commiting. It is a very expensive sport, and takes a lot of time. I would also recommend getting really good at skating because at fifteen most of these girls have been playing for a very long time and will be very good. also look into checking and non checking rules. Some people HATE being checked and others LOVE checking. Those are all things to things to think about.

I live in Garfield, New Jersey/ Bergen county and I am looking for a girls hockey league to play in. It could be any type of hockey. I am 13 years old. Is there anywhere around this area I could sign up for hockey?
I actually want to play hockey, not cheer for it. Wow, there's a lot of bright people here now a days.

Contact the Girls/Women's District contact for the Atlantic region of USA Hockey (see link). She can help you find a suitable team.

Are you a beginner? You will probably find it helpful to get some kind of skating lessons or hockey camp over the summer. That may be mostly with boys, but it's helpful to get some experience before the season starts in fall.

I'm in middle school, the only girl who plays hockey here, and at my old middle school and I want to show it off! Don't want stupid slogans for girly girls, but something funny or intense.
