Ok I am a Panther fan. It was part of the season last season when we were chasing the last playoff spot. It was a promotion that the Panthers booster club put on. It caught on. The Players like it and so do some fans. I do not own a cow bell. Nor will I buy one . But the fans and the team like it. They even sell them in the Panthers shop in the arena.
EDIT Just so you all are clear there are many teams that use cowbells . Many , many college teams and European teams as well. Minuteman you may want to stop be a homer long enough to look around and quit insulting other teams. Real fans can apprciate what each team have . You were not funny at all.
Florida Panthers win in OT
Why is the Florida Panthers such a lame hockey team?
Fact. Bears eat beets... Bears.. beat... Battlestar Galactica.

I often read about people saying the neutral zone trap (used formally by the Panthers in the start), the Southern expansion and the 90's expansion of teams (including the Florida Panthers) destroys the culture of the NHL and the game its self. More than often people talk about how the current game is not as pure or good as it was decades ago and with help from some obsessive Rat problems can Florida be considered the team to be destroying the NHL most? Not to mention just being in the South East people can point a finger.
BQ: What degree of formal education do you have (if any or working on)?
The problem with your statement is that there are two sides to every argument. Southern expansion has had no negative effect on the NHL whatsoever. Yes, there are teams in the south that are struggling financially - namely Phoenix, Tampa and Dallas (Atlanta made a profit the year they made the playoffs, Carolina tends to make a profit when they make the playoffs, Florida has always been profitable because they get the sponsorship thing, and Nashville is slowly but surely turning itself around financially - all are on equal or better financial footing than Calgary, Edmonton, and Ottawa). people who choose not to do the research (Florida was a publicly traded company, you can check their financial statements at the SEC website), or are just against the idea of an game on ice played in 90 degree weather are on the wrong side of the argument by their own choosing.
In the 90s, Florida was a success story. Roger Nielson coached the Panthers to the best expansion record ever (0.494 winning percentage), and in their 3rd year of existence they were in the Stanley Cup final.
BQ: No formal education, never finished high school. Did the GED thing in Illinois though about 40 years ago.

You wouldn't make it on the Florida Panthers… | The Hockey Writers
Going in to Monday’s game against the Atlanta Thrashers , all of the talk was about the big fourth game in a six game home-stand. The Cats won the first three at home and were looking at a much needed win against the team holding the current eighth conference playoff spot. The Panthers had not won four in a row since the 2008 season and before Peter DeBoer was head coach. Scott Clemmensen got the nod for the third game in a row, while Tomas Vokoun questioned why he was benched after the team’s last “win.” At what seems to be a pivotal point in the season, I can’t help but to notice all of the injuries!...
