Where to get Field Hockey Equipment in Singapore?
Field hockey

I'm looking to get a hockey stick but i'm limited to shop in Peninsula Hotel. Are there any other places to go to get field hockey equipment?

Most places, even ones WITH a pro hockey team don't have a very good selection of gear. No matter what it is. I know a lot of places (websites) that sell ice hockey gear, but i'm pretty sure that they sell field hockey, as well as inline, equipment such as hockeymonkey.com, singaporehockey.org, planetfieldhockey.com, field-hockeydirect.com. Those websites do sell gear online, but some of them are just websites for stores in Singapore. Why not just ask around too?

What equipment do i need for field hockey?
Ready to shoot field hockey

I'm in 9th grade, and i'm just starting high school field hockey. what equipment should i have?

You definitely need a stick, cleats, shinguards, and a mouthguard.

You also may want gloves, turf shoes, running shoes, and a ball for your own practicing, but they're not as necessary as the above.

Good luck and have fun =).

Where can I get the cheapest field hockey equipment?
Chico for Vezina

I need a stick, cleats, mouth guard, a bag, and shin guards. Also, what is the best stick brand for a beginner? Thanks.

If it's your first year of field hockey i would get a stick at sports authority or sports chalet where it would cost $60 most, $30 least. Otherwise i would look online at STX, Brine, or Grey. <--(they have some of these brands at the store now)
If you order online sometimes you can get a bag with your stick, otherwise $20.
You can find a cheap mouth guard at any sports store. Sometimes they have straps but you can cut them off and file them down. Those are usually a dollar, but sometimes it's worth it to buy a $5 one so that it doesn't irritate you while you play.
Sometimes i just play in regular running shoes but for cleats you can find them in most sports/shoe stores also. Usually $40. Personally i would go with nike. Or adidas.

Washing field hockey equipment?

I'm the goalie for my high school field hockey team and I use the school's equipment. I honestly doubt the equipment is really washed each year, and its starting to reek. Would I be allowed to bring the equipment home and wash it if it belongs to the school?

Ask your coach and I'm sure he/she will understand....

Use lots and lots of fabreze. If its anything like my hockey gear which I'm pretty sure its not that bad your gonna need a lot! Nothing like hockey smell! I miss it! goodluck!

How do I clean my field hockey goalie equipment?

I wear lots of pads. It's like full body armour made of foam. Last year my equipment got really gross and smelled rancid by the end of the season. How should I clean them so that I'm more comfortable in my pads this year?

you're a goalie! the most heavily padded player on the field. when its 90 degrees and youre covered in armor, sweat is going to build up in your equipment. my advice is (as mentioned) let your stuff dry outside when you get home. Dont let it sit in your bag until the next practice or game. Depending on what helmet you use, there are removable pads that NEED to be washed regularily. The material used in most field hockey applications is considered anti-bacterial but that does not mean that stuff wont get smelly. Anything around you face and mouth especially needs to be cleaned as often as possible. Keep your mouthguard is a case or a plastic bag but make sure it gets cleaned somehow every time you use it because your saliva (as gross as it sounds) holds the most bacteria and that goes back in your mouth every day. Take my advice and be safe. ;) good luck

  • Field Hockey Equipment Used in the Olympic Games

Field hockey is one of the oldest-known sports to be played with a ball and a stick, dating back to 2000 B.C. in Persia. Though much of the equipment and rules have evolved since then, the goal remains the same: put the ball in the net.

Field Hockey Equipment: Protective Pads, Shoes

Field hockey was first introduce to the Olympic Games in 1908. At that time, the game was played on natural grass. Since the 1970s, however, the game has been played on artificial turf, causing field hockey to be played at higher speeds and creating more of a need for protective equipment on the field.

Field hockey is played by both men and women in teams of 11 with a white ball that is about 230 millimeters in diameter. Because the ball is made of plastic and passed at high speeds, getting hit with the ball can cause pain or injury. To prevent possible injuries, field hockey players wear shin pads and elbow pads. Field hockey players also wear special cleats to help them grip the turf while running, preventing slips and allowing for quick turns during play.
