can i wear normal ice hockey pants?

You will need:
a helmet
a mouth piece
elbow pads
gloves
a cup
inline hockey pants
shin pads
and skates
If you don't already have skates then I would suggest to you getting a pair of Missions or Tours.

Ice Hockey helmet help?

I currently play inline hockey and use a cage as face protection. After going back and watching the classic mighty ducks, i was wondering if there was any way that I can get either a cage or full face shield with that flip up feature the players have? It's so i can flip my cage/shield up when I get off to grab a drink.

don't know If you can still find them but I have a full shield called Z-Leader. It doesn't scratch or fog up and it's the only full shield i've seem that can stay flipped up. It just locks either up/down and there are no straps.

So ya

How can hockey equipment be cleaned?

I participate in inline hockey and the pads, gloves and helmet have a strong odor. How can I safely clean them?

Simply spray the equipment down with a mixture of half water and half rubbing alcohol, then let it air dry. If you don't want to smell like a doctors office then you can wash the pads/pants and jersey in the washing machine. If you have any performance apparel such as under armor shirts or jock shorts I suggest not washing them in normal detergent as it can effect the wicking properties. Use a sport wash like this:

Hockey Goalies: Is this mask safe enough for inline pucks?

It's one of those old throw back masks. I was wondering if anyone used similar masks for inline hockey. You know those Franklin street hockey caged masks they sell everywhere for like 50 bucks, they say "intended for street hockey balls, not inline pucks" But I have been using them all my life against inline pucks. no problem..what about this?

Will a fiberglass model of the same mask design be good for inline pucks??

I prefer to err on the side of caution. I recommend an approved mask. Back when I played, it was during an outdoor ice hockey game and the opposing goalie was wearing the same brand as (forgive the example) the crew in the opening robbery scene in "Heat" with DeNiro and Pacino. The example you provided looks just like it. He took a shot off the forehead and the mask cracked - almost shattered - from the force of the puck. He was a little woozy and would have been despite the mask being approved or not, but he could have been seriously injured.

I had been wearing a different type maybe made by Mylec (I believe) and retired it after that game and got me a fiberglas model through a friend.

ADD: I tried looking up a picture of the mask I wore but I can't locate it. I remember it was a facehugger from the late 70's, it's natural color was dark red, had a straight bridge covering the nose, snaps, backplate, etc.

Now I'm gonna go nuts trying to remember what kind it was.

I'm joining a league to play inline hockey. What do i need?

Starting from scratch with not a lot of money and I need EVERYTHING! I don't even own skates! If you had $250 to spend which items would you do without and which items would you get super cheap, and which would you spend the most money on? I'm required to have shin guards, helmet, and gloves.

skates, stick, helmet, shin pads, gloves, and cup, are the absolute must have to play. i use shin pads, helmet with a full face cage, gloves, elbow pads, cup, hockey pants (the ones that have thigh and hip protection), chest pads, and a collar style throat guard. i highly recommend a cage on your helmet. mine as saved me $100s of dollars of dental work. plus the elbow pads area good idea i almost broke mine before i finally got them and will never play without them again. now as for where to get the stuff i got most of mine at http://www.rollerhockeymonkey.com/ its a great site ships fast and cheaper than ebay.

Ice Hockey Vs Inline Hockey – Know the Difference | Halifax Ball

The biggest difference between ice hockey and roller hockey (inline hockey) is obviously the surface on which the sport is played. Ice hockey is either played on frozen ponds or on indoor ice rinks. As a result, ice hockey can be inaccessible to many people, especially those living in the southern United States. Inline hockey offers one distinct advantage over ice hockey in that it can be played on any paved surface. In fact, many inline leagues and pickup games take place on outdoor basketball and tennis courts.

Besides the differences in playing surface, there are several significant rule differences between the two sports. The most significant of these rule differences is that ice hockey is played with five skaters per team, whereas inline hockey is only played with four. Furthermore, a standard game of inline hockey has no offsides or icing rules. In other words, skaters generally have more freedom to skate and shoot in inline hockey. Finally, many inline hockey leagues are played using a ball rather than a puck. For players used to using a puck, adjusting to a ball can be quite difficult because of its different characteristics of movement on the court.
