What is the difference between a floorball goalie helmet and an ice hockey goalie helmet?

Is there much of a difference, and would it be legal to wear an ice hockey mask during a floorball game?

The ice hockey helmet is much heavier and safer. You could take an ice hockey helmet to a floor hockey game. No one ever complains if you wear too much equipment. You couldn't go the other way though because a floor hockey helmet would explode (and possibly your head with it) if you got nailed with a good slap-shot.

ice hockey goalie wearing a player helmet?

I just started playing goalie, and the goalie mask I "inherited" from a friend is too big and heavy, after a while, it gets in the way of my eyes. I was wondering what what the safety issues are if I just wear my normal players helmet with cage and a neck protector? I play in a rec league with beginner to advance beginner players, barely any slapshots, and when there are, its usually still on the ice, not flying. I also play with the 12 and under kids for practice. Reason I cant buy a goalie helmet that fits me right now is cuz i'm in asia and they dont sell it. i wont be able to buy one til i get back to the US towards christmas time
I tried wearing the neck guard with my players helmet and the only exposed part would be the upper side of my neck which connects to behind my ears/ behind my jaw.. agggh! i guess ill stick to using the freakin big heavy goalie helmet and put a pillow in it or something to make it snugger

make sure that neck guard covers your neck good enough. you never know.

Will my old ice hockey goalie mask fit my new helmet?

I used a 'pimp my mask' by itech, which is a legal 'cat eye'. My new helmet is the itech profile 960. Will the legalized cat eye fit my new 960??

Depends on the 'cut' of the cats eye cage, if it's an Itech they should be compatible

Ice Hockey Goalie Helmets: How They Evolved

Prior to the 1970s, ice hockey goalie helmets were typically made of fiberglass and given a molded shape to fit the goalie’s face. By then, however, two important things happened. First, a series of accidents related to masks struck down the careers of many NHL players; second, North America saw the effectiveness of the helmet/bird cage mask design that was popularized by Russian player Vladislav Tretiak. People saw the major difference that it made to the game by giving the goalie extended vision compared to the form-molded helmets that were popular until then. While these two factors brought safety and playability to the forefront, the use of a cage over the eye-holes of the fiberglass mask and an extension to protect the head by ace goaltender Tony Esposito finally managed to push the modern mask over the edge and onto the ice. The modern goalie mask based on this design is also called a hybrid mask, and offers that highest amounts of safety and protection, as well as visibility.
