Hockey Helmet

I am getting back into ice hockey after a head injury, and I would like to purchase the best helmet I can to protect myself. The highest price doesn't mean the best protection. What brands are the best for safety? What features should I look for? I currently have a basic Bauer, child-size large. (I am petite.)

My recommendation for you would be the Cascade CHX helmet. It is probably the most protective helmet out there with technology specifically designed to prevent concussions and head injuries. It is also pretty easy to find, websites such as hockeymonkey or icewarehouse carry them in stock. You don't win big on style points with this helmet but it does its job. Another alternative is the NikeBauer 8500 helmet, although this helmet probably is not as good as the Cascade in terms of protection. Hope this helps!

A nine year old player's perception of minor hockey in Canada.

I just got a mouth guard today for hockey, and I broke it in and everything.
It comes with a strap, but I have no idea how to attach it on my helmet.

If you have a cage, attach it to a bar near the chin pad. You don't want to attach it too far up because the strap may interfere with your vision. I have seen 2 kinds of straps, removable lanyards and the strap which is the same material as the mouthpiece. If it is the same material type, they usually have holes which you can loop the non mouthpiece side around the cage's bar and insert into the pre-made holes. The removeable lanyard type usually has a loop in one end of the lanyard, remove the lanyard from the mouthpiece, wrap around the cage's bar and fish one end through the loop, then attach mouthpiece to lanyard and there you go. Hope this helps.

I'm shipping a hockey helmet, hockey pants, and two goalie gloves. These are all separate orders. What is the best method to ship these? I prefer the post office because it's close to my apartment.

Depending on when you need them, I would assume parcel ground or UPS is fine. They don't need any special packing instructions, as they are not particularly fragile. If you need them yesterday, have it overnighted.

Well. I just got a hockey helmet half visor for my son, and he keeps complaining about how bad it is fogging up. We have tried the anti-fog, and a few other things. But it keeps fogging! I heard dishsoap works well but also distorts the image through the visor.

If you haven't already...Try Rain-X Glass Cleaner with Anti-fog Wipes. It worked for me.

No...you should wear a ski helmet....
