hey i was wondering i used to have an easton hockey bag but the zipper all broke, but the hockey bags cost a lot so should i just buy an athletic works wheeled sport bag from canadian tire it holds a lot of gear and its only $20!.
tell me if any of you use other bags that are not hockey brands easton bauer tps reebok etc.
It depends on what you want to do. If you don't mind about transporting your bag on your shoulders or if you have a car to get to the rink there is no necessary need to buy a wheeled bag. But if what you're carrying is heavy or/and you don't have a car, it might help a lot.
I used to have a regular hockey bag but since I bring my equipment to school which is about an hour from my house, having to take the bus, the subway then walk, I switched to a wheel-bag because my goalie gear was too heavy to walk with.
It might be the time to change it if the zip is all broke. Even more if you're having trouble using it. $20 for a wheel-bag is a great price since most of them are over $50. I think it will do the job, so if I was you, I would buy it. Spending a little more will give better quality but you should be fine with that. And you won't feel as guilty for wasting the money when you will replace it. Just make sure it's a hockey bag preferably, if not check if the material is reinforced and thick enough to support your things (skates, etc)
My hockey bag is a Hockey Canada one, about 33-34 inches, wheeled bag, not the current bag they sell at Canadian Tire but the previous model. The only con I would have for it is that it cannot stand on its wheels (which might have been useful for example if I'm in line waiting for the bus), I have to lay down the bag everytime.
New body bags from Easton ;)
I wanted to know which backpack is better for a roller hockey player maybe becoming a ice hockey player would use? I'm 6'0 and growing so i use senior pads. So which one do i choose?

they say that the easton bag is huge like a monster. Some people think its to big for the doors but im not sure about the durability of the bag.
okay rockstar you are stupid as hell, god your saying that only girls use hockey backpacks well your stupid almost everybody at my rink has a backpack or a wheeled bag and we don't have many girls at the rink.
id go with the easton bag.durable and well made.
I have Adult Easton gear, and i am having a tough time getting my gear into my current bag. I need a bag that isnt too high in price and can fit my catcher gear, my glove, cleats and a bat.

I know that in order for a skate to fit well, it depends on your foot, style, level of play, etc., but let's say your foot feels great in Reebok's or in Bauer's....the pricetage can vary up to $600 and I've read the specs of the higher end versus lower end models, but what will get me the best bang for my buck?
I know that these, more than anything else probably, is the most biased piece of equipment and the last pair I owned were the CCM Pro Tacks from probably 1998, lol. Was never a huge fan of them to be honest and although they may be one of the few salvagable items in my old hockey bag, I can't help but take advantage of the last 10 years of technological advancements (haven't played in probably 8 years). That being said, I have yet to go into the pro shop and try some on, but I want to get either Bauer Vapors, CCM U+/Vectors, or Reeboks. Never been too keen on grafs and the only Easton ones I like are the black stealths and I can't justify paying that much for skates. I do, however, want to spend more than my parents were able to spend on me seeing as how they never spent more than probably $150 or $200. I'm looking in the $250-$350 range, hoping not to get too far over $300 and I was just curious what your thoughts were on skates in this range. I obviously need to see which brand agrees most with my foot, but for example the Vapor X:40 and the Vapor X:30 seem pretty close in quality, yet one is $300 and another is $180. Once again, is this because one is simply newer? And how do these models differ from the Vapor XXXX's which are also 300?
I'm wondering about similar things with the CCM's and Reebok models and how the price differs the quality. I don't mind having a skate that is a 2007 or 2008 model if it's almost the same thing as the 2009/2010 model and $200 less. If you're wondering what kind of hockey I'll be playing and how often, I'm going to be playing in competitive adult leagues, hoping to get on the ice 2-3 times per week. I weigh around 200 lbs so I will need something durable for sure. I respect quality in skates so anyone with personal experiences in these brands would be great for a detailed response.
Sorry for such a long message, but I figured the more information I give you, the better you can assess my situation. I want to walk into the pro shop with a better idea of what's out there in terms of quality instead of going in too blind since i've been out of the game for a while. I appreciate your response in advance.
Thanks!!
well i skimmed this so hopefully i'll answer everything youre asking. the x40s and x30s dont differ based on how new they are. the new vapor line (x60s, x50s, x40s, etc) all came out at the same time. the difference in price has nothing to do with which ones newer....because theyre all the same in that respect. the difference in price is due to materials used, stiffness, and weight. the higher up in the line you go, the stiffer the boot is going to be. so if youre playing very competitive hockey, a low end skate like the x15 or something is not going to hold up because its not stiff enough and itsmade with cheaper materials. it's also going to be a lot heavier than a higher end skate such as the x60. the materials used in the liner are going to be different (you'll notice the x60 has a very nice interior). this is pretty much the same for all brands of skates.
for example, with the reebok pumps. the 5k is a pretty heavy skate. as you move up to the 7k or even the 9k (i have no experience with the new 11ks) you'll notice how the skate is a lot more stiffer and lighter because of the different materials used. the liner on the inside is made with different material in an effort to be more moisture resistent. for the reebok line, i wouldnt go anything lower than a 7k because the price just isnt worth it for something like a 5k (wayyy too heavy)
for the bauer line (and basically any other brand of skate youre looking at) i'd suggest something mid line like the x40s.
the vapor xxxx's are the older bauers. different design of the boot on the inside and outside...and slightly different fit. i'm not a huge fan of bauer so i don't have a whole lot to say besides try them on.
everyones foot is different so just keep trying on skates until you find ones that work.
